God's Sword of Truth - The Word

What is a Believer?

By The Holy Spirit's Disciple, Raymond Laginess

There is a great majority of people who profess to be believers in Jesus and are very secular in practice. The problem is most do not believe in the same Jesus Christ. Their religion...or congregation..has a different view or method of observance and their beliefs and practices favor the system more in devotion than in the actual life of Jesus Christ.

There is an outside fleshly practice of their flesh...geared to a social standard. They all have one or two things in common....they have a founder/leader...other than Christ. And of course, they do not believe the same and therefore they disagree, but they do accept each other as Christian which is really expressing that they believe there are many doors to Christ and heaven. With all their religious righteousness and self esteem in who they are....the one big problem is that they all have no concept of the true Jesus Christ. They have been deceived and bewitched by Satan. In fact, they all have no true faith in the reality of Jesus. They practice and show a fleshly life in Christ in most cases...but, it's all surface; fleshly and very phony in truth.

We have a very good example of this type of religion by looking at the Jews at the time of Christ during His walk among them. The Jews did not recognize Jesus as Messiah and in fact killed Him. "Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel is, that they might be saved. For I bear them record that they have a zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth." Romans 10:1-4,

Satan, along with his false religious brethren, has brought in damnable heresies and many follow their pernicious ways and they make merchandise of everyone that follows their ways. Again, like the Jews, religions follow traditions of man and different gospels of Christ...who is in fact...anti-Christ. Rather than Christ in spirit, they have chosen Christ in the flesh. They do not know that no man is justified by the law or rules or custom or tradition...but must be justified by faith in Jesus......nothing else!

There is no salvation in a system of religion, or works, or worship of idols, or keeping of church laws, or by giving money by tithing, or by being a patriot of a government or system. You are not to be a part of anything connected to the world.

What is a true believer?

What makes a true believer and can we know if we are one? All the answers come from the Word of God as written by the Holy Spirit....translated from the Original languages by man, as guided by the Holy Spirit, into English - KING JAMES VERSION 1611 or AUTHORIZED VERSION.

A true believer must first have faith. Faith in God's plan, through Jesus Christ as guided by His Spirit, and the written WORD of God. "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. For by it the elders obtained a good report. Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. By faith, Abel offered unto God a more excellent sacrifice than Cain, by which he obtained witness that he was righteous, God testifying of his gifts; and by it he being dead yet speaketh. By faith Enoch was translated that he should not see death; and was found not, because god had translated him; for before his translation he had this testimony, that he pleased God. But without faith it is impossible to please him; for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him." Hebrews 11:1-6.

Also note Hebrews 13:6 - "So that we may boldly say, the Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me." A believer has faith and with faith comes a helper, the Lord, so we are not alone and need not another man, as we read in Hebrews 13:20, 21 - "Now the God of peace, that brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, that great shepherd of the sheep, through the blood of the everlasting covenant, make you perfect in every good work to do his will, working in you that which is wellpleasing in his sight, through Jesus Christ; to whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen" As you can see, the Holy Spirit, who guides all things in God's plan, has many helpers who He has trained and taught as they guide us to truth by His WORD. Read Hebrews 13:17 and Galatians 1:6-12. We are also warned in 1 John 4:1 - "Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God; because many false prophets are gone out of the world." Also read John 14:26.

Again, we have a believer who has faith, he believes in God's Word and he has helpers or guides, if needed. Next comes the signs of a believer. These signs are simple and true...we start with John 3:3, John 3:5-6 and John 3:16. "He that loveth not, knoweth not God; for God is love." - 1 John 4:8. Also read 1 John 4:20 and 1 John 2:15.

If you do not understand love, read 1 Cor. 13: 1-13, 14:1-40. If you noticed, I've given you some reading to do so that you can see truth as the Spirit writes and not after me. I am only a guide, not an author. Keep in mind that you must know and have God type of love, not a religion's or man's type of love There is a difference! Man's love is worldly and of flesh, God's love is spiritual and not of this world. You can only understand all this by the Holy Spirit. It must be spiritually discerned, read 1 Cor. 2:14.

With all this spiritual knowledge, it will produce a different style of life...not of your own, but of the Spirit. You will, out of love, show your faith and it will bring forth fruit. Read 2 Cor. 4:1-12. We start to walk by faith, not by sight - 2 Cor. 5;7.

By the WORD we become judges of sin and of the fruit of others. As to the type of judge, read John 7:24 and 2 Cor. 2:15. Your judgment is of sin, not the soul of the person. You are to hate sin, all sin. You judge others to warn them because you love them. You warn them while you can...before they are judged by their sin in death.

Believers shall be at the white throne judgment and will see all that goes on. If you love people (you'll know some of them, as some are friends or blood relatives) can you say you warned them while they were in the flesh, as to their sins, or as to their way of life in the flesh? Were you a good witness? Did people know that you were a Christian?

Believers do love, warn, rebuke and are salt to the world. They are righteous judges. Believers are always looking to be with Christ. They would not give up Christ for anything or anyone of the world. Believers are not understood by religions or their ways. They cannot fellowship with religions as they have different spirits. Believers die for their faith, religions fight for theirs. Believers do not get along with the world, religions get along with all beliefs. Believers are one body...religions have many bodies. Believers live only by faith - not by sight! If religion is for it , then I'm against it. Do not yoke yourself with any religious group. Remember, Satan has many angels of light in the world. We are warned that there shall be a great falling away and it shall come from self professing "religious Christians". I call them surface Christians, loving life and the world, having a hope in mankind rather than Jesus who has already solved our salvation problems.

When you were a child, you were under bondage to the elements of the world, subject to ordinance, commandments, doctrines of men. If you have found Christ, are "Born-Again", and are now known of God. YOU ARE TRULY FREE OF ALL OF THE ABOVE! Now you can study to show yourself approved. You must discipline yourself to godliness, you must keep your spirit open to the Holy Spirit and use your heart as a guide and exercise thyself unto His guidance in your daily walk. Focus on Jesus, keep His life in mind and how He reacted to things on earth, how He lived, and what He said. Live by His every word. It is a way of life each and every day. You may lose some battles as Satan is always trying to win you back, but,".... greater is He (Holy Spirit) that is in you, than he (Satan) that is in the world." - I John 4:4

Nothing is instant, it takes quality time. Sin is still in the world, you shall have temptation, but the Holy Spirit has written, "resist Satan and he shall flee" James 4:7. Read 1 Peter 1:1-25.

As a newborn babe, desire the sincere milk of the Word that you may grow by it. The Lord is gracious. He is the only truth and light and there is no other way that man may be saved. Only He is our Mediator, "For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus." - 1 Timothy 2:5. An important point that I must tell you, and keep it foremost in your heart, is that faith has nothing to do with feeling. You cannot feel the Spirit. Jesus is the same, yesterday, today and forever. It has nothing to do with how you feel about it. Truth is fact...you don't feel it! No matter how you feel - good or bad, healthy or sick, joyful or sad - faith is constant, absolute, perfect and stands alone. It surpasses all understanding of human experience. If you can comprehend this, it is a spiritual understanding. As the Word states - "it's a substance hoped for.." (Hebrews 11:1). The only thing that would cancel faith is "no love". If you have faith and "no love", your faith is shipwrecked. Read 1 Cor. 13:1-13. The WORD says it all!
