God's Sword of Truth - The Word

Trust

By The Holy Spirit's Disciple, Raymond Laginess

On www.dictionary.com, you can find man's definition of trust (n.): 1. Firm reliance on the integrity, ability, or character of a person or thing. 2. Custody; care 3. Something committed into the care of another; charge.

First, let me begin at the above three (3) items - sounds pretty good already, doesn't it? But, wait! The above paragraph tells us that there is a firm reliance on the integrity, ability, or character of a person or thing. Well, let's continue on and find out what the Word of God teaches us about "trust". Paul tells us in I Timothy 4:10 -"For therefore we both labour and suffer reproach, because we trust in the living God, who is the Saviour of all men, specially of those that believe." and also in II Corinthians 1:9,10 - "But we had the sentence of death in ourselves, that we should not trust in ourselves, but in God which raiseth the dead: Who delivered us from so great a death, and doth deliver: in whom we trust that he will yet deliver us:". Now you can see that our (1) firm reliance is on the "living God, our Saviour" ONLY and it is through "His ability", not ours, that we are delivered from so great a death as hell. "Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you." - I Peter 1:7. There's the #(2) item - Custody; care. The Lord is always mindful of us. He watches over our life with His Infinite Care - "But even the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not therefore: ye are of more value than many sparrows." - Luke 12:7. I commit myself to the care of my Creator - how about you? Now here is where # (3) fits in - something committed to the care of another - it's not just "something" committed to the care of "another" - it's our "lives, our souls" that we must commit to the ONE AND ONLY Divine Keeper, through Jesus Christ to God-ward, the "Caretaker" of all. "Wherefore let them that suffer according to the will of God commit the keeping of their souls to him in well doing, as unto a faithful Creator." - I Peter 4:19. And, it is according to His abundant mercy that we "...are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time." - I Peter 1:5.

We must trust the Lord in ALL our ways (everything we do) and honor Him with faith, trust and love. Our Saviour, Jesus Christ, was sent to earth as our Emissary from heaven, and it was He Who was sacrificed for our sin that He might redeem us from the pits of hell. He guides our path and life in this world in order to lead us into the new life which awaits us in the new heaven for an eternity. And, to simply put it, it is a "free will" choice which must be made by each and every one of us while on this earth. Man is incapable of discovering the entire truth about God on his own. "For after that in the wisdom of God the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe." - I Cor.1:21. It is through the person of Jesus Christ that God has revealed truth to us. (Read I Cor. 1:23-31).

If YOU choose Jesus, YOU will have all the power YOU need IN CHRIST, through His Holy Spirit, to overcome the flesh and carnal self. Jesus Himself overcame the world - "These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.

Satan, a lost angel, is a defeated foe who cannot win in the end. Do not follow him, succumb to his lies, participate in his false religions or be with him in his fate in hell. Beware, Satan is a liar! He will try to tell you that trusting the Lord will not work, and he will use every trick in his book to get you to doubt what the Word of God says. (In speaking of "the Word of God", I mean King James Authorized Bible). Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light - II Cor.11:14. Did you know that the Word proves Satan wrong and a liar? It does! Read John 8:44.

Christ is alive - He has risen - He is fact - BELIEVE IT! It is He, Christ, Who is our blessed Hope. If only everyone could trust in Him and believe in His Holy Word, the Bible. I ask that you do not believe in man's ways or religion's ways, but the Word in which the Holy Spirit will teach you and show you truth. "Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened. For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us: Therefore let us keep the feast, not with old leaven, neither with the leaven of malice and wickedness; but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth." I Cor.5:7, 8. Seek, and you will find. Open your heart to the truth that is in His Word, for His Word is ALL truth. Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Proverbs 3:5, 6.

If, for some reason you cannot and will not have trust or faith in the Word, then you are lost forever and are a wasted soul. Even your good works cannot save you. "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." - Ephes.2:8, 9. The fact that the world exists and we are here on this earth, proves that there is a Creator Lord God, and at the moment He calls us, we will without a doubt give an account to Him for what we did and said on this earth while we were yet alive. In other words, death will become our judgment time, and Christ will be our Judge according to truth. I Cor.4:4.

Life is more then just "time", it has a purpose and there is a choice on your part that you will have to make in order to get to the second part of life - eternity (heaven or hell). We will all live forever, one way or the other - Heaven with Jesus, or Hell with Satan - it's your choice, and only you can make that choice - NO ONE CAN MAKE IT FOR YOU. Yes, let God be true, but every man a liar - read Romans 3:4. Study, read, and let the Holy Spirit teach you - He will.

Now then, Faith comes by hearing. "...faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God." - Romans 10:17. Faith is the evidence of things not seen - "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen." - Heb.11:1. Is what you do every day of your life solidly planted on God's Word? Are you a doer of His Word? I pray so. This is God's will for you and I. Put Jesus first in your life, admit that you are a sinner (Rom.3:23), repent and turn from your sin (Luke 13:5) put it under the blood that He shed for you (John 3:16), therefore, all your sins have been paid for. There is only one sin that cannot be forgiven - the sin of blaspheming the Holy Spirit. If you commit this sin you can never make it to Jesus, it’s a serious sin - it’s denying that there is a Holy Spirit, or acting as though He isn’t real and cannot help you. But, there is always hope in Jesus. He wants you with Him, and by His death has made a way for you (Rom. 10:9).

"The words of the Lord are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times." - Psalm 12:6. The Bible is the inspired Word of God - it will always tell you the truth, never mislead you, can be totally trusted and is reliable and authoritative. "All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. - II Tim. 3:16, 17. Also, the Holy Scriptures are able to make you wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus (See II Tim. 3:15).

Do you understand what Christ Jesus has done for you? Can you even imagine what He has done on the cross? What He suffered in His human flesh for you? "But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners. Christ died for us." - Rom. 5:8. He shed His blood, suffered much pain for you and I, just so we could be with Him in heaven for an eternity. Please trust Him as I do, and I am no one.

If you fail in the gift of the Lord’s grace, you have lost your eternity - forever you have lost it all - what a total waste. It would be the greatest tragedy of your being. The time is near, very near. It is later than you think - you MUST make a choice whether you live or die, meaning, you must die to SELF in order to live forever. Make your decision this very minute, before it's too late.

May you find salvation through Jesus Christ and enter His eternal kingdom, "Wherefore I will not be negligent to put you always in remembrance of these things, though ye know them, and be established in the present truth." II Peter 1:12.
