REJECTION OF BIBLICAL TRUTH
By The Holy Spirit's Disciple, Raymond Laginess
Does anyone know the difference between Biblical Christianity and Religion? Biblical Christianity is unique because it is the ONLY faith which is NOT a religion. Religion is man trusting his own works of righteousness (Titus 3:5). In Biblical Christianity, it is man trusting the work which Jesus Christ did on the cross (Romans -26).
Salvation through works results in people seeking after a righteousness they never achieve (Romans -10:4). So, why would true Christians believe they need to practice religion, embrace a set of man’s rules, regulations and rituals, and include the works of the Law in their Christian walk in order to obtain salvation?
It’s because many people in religion do not fully understand the Age of Grace, and are still in bondage to the Old Testament Israeli Law system. These people insist that we, the Christians, are still under the Law, and some believe that they have the right to remove or add certain restrictions of the Law, changing the nature of it by their own authority. The ONLY authority is found in the Scripture.
The whole book of Galatians should be studied for this teaching by the Holy Spirit, remembering that the Word has said: “For as many as are of the works of the Law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them. But that no man is justified by the Law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith. And the Law is not of faith...Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the Law...” (Galatians 3:10-13). “Wherefore the Law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith. But after faith is come, we are NO LONGER under a schoolmaster. For ye are all children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.”(Galatians 3:24, 25).
The issue before the early church was whether justification was brought about by faith in Jesus Christ's sacrifice or works of the Law. Paul says, "Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law..." (Gal. 5:4). Paul also taught that a man could be justified ONLY “through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, ... that he might be just and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus” (Romans -26). People, do you understand this? Do you understand what faith means? Faith means to trust in Jesus Christ ONLY! Nothing else is acceptable to the Lord!
Paul wrote of Abraham's faith, stating, “…Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.” - Galatians 3:6; also, Romans and James 2:23, 24. That same grace given to Abraham, God’s grace, has been given to us to enable us to put on the “Lord Jesus Christ.” Therefore, why would anyone ADD extra burdens on the Gospel of Grace? Let’s find out what some of these burdens are and what the Word tells us about keeping any part of the Law (Ten Commandments, Sabbath, Holy Days, Tithing, etc.), even our own “good works”.
Let’s look briefly at the Old Testament Mosaic Law. The faultiness of this first covenant—the Mosaic law—was not that God gave bad commands, but that the people had evil hearts. In the days when the Lord God brought the children of
out from under the bondage of Israel , He made a covenant with them and delivered His Commandments through His servant Moses, on tablets of stone. These written Laws, given by God, were regularly broken by Egypt , they couldn’t keep them, thus; atonement for their sins had to be made on a consistent basis. They found it difficult to heed all that was engraved on the tablets of stone. To them it was mainly external rather than internal. It was obedience by will-power rather than by reliance on the Spirit; and RITUALISTIC rather than personal. The New Testament is SPIRITUAL, rather than ritualistic and traditionalistic as was the Old Testament Mosaic Law. Today, the Old Testament Law is no longer in effect, it has been fulfilled, served its purpose, and vanished away. Hebrews 7:11-12 -- “If therefore perfection were by the Levitical priesthood, (for under it the people received the law,) what further need was there that another priest should rise after the order of Melchisedec, and not be called after the order of Aaron? For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. (vs. 19) For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.” Read Galatians 2:16 -- “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” Also, very important is Hebrews 8:7 thru 13. Do you understand these scriptures? My friends, we are living under them. We are free in GRACE! Jesus Christ removed the very obstacle that declared us unrighteous before God – THE LAW. It’s the finished work of Jesus Christ on the Cross that has brought us near to our Lord WITHOUT any performance or efforts on our part, and it’s this revelation that brings “…the peace of God” that rules in our hearts (Colossians 3:15). Israel
Jesus knew the Old Testament had vanished away. In Matthew 24:1-51, Jesus did not tell His disciples to read the Old Testament Prophets, but instead, sat them down and told them of the end time events which would characterize the last days just prior to His return. He explained that it would be a time of the greatest religious deception the world had ever seen. He said sound doctrine would be despised... and wondered if there would be any faith found whatsoever when He returned – “…when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?” (Luke 18:8). He then gave to us (“born again” believers) the Book of Revelation in which He began with the warning to the assemblies at that time, proceeding into the events of over 2000 years of warnings to the “Seven Churches” on earth.
“Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil. (Matthew 5:17). The Law was fulfilled by Jesus Christ, and the “handwriting of ordinances” was taken “out of the way, nailing it to his cross” (Colossians ). The law ended with Christ on the cross (tree). All sin was paid for by the blood of Jesus. (Matthew 26:28). When He died, the veil of the temple was torn in two (Matthew 27:51), signifying the end of the law it represented. We now live under “the law of Christ” (Gal. 6:2), namely, “love” (“…Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind…Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.” - Matthew 22:37, 39-40). The words of Jesus in the “Sermon on the Mount” in Matthew, Chapters 5 through 7, explain to us the superiority of the Gospel (or Law of Christ) over the Mosaic Law. Yet, most people today, have a desire to keep “the law” of the Old Testament, when they should be fulfilling the “law of Christ”, which is NOT made up of various observances, traditions and rules. Our focus should now be centered on Jesus Christ, the bringer of the New Covenant.
Friends, we cannot mix the law (full of burdensome rites and legal observances for justification) with the gospel (I Corinthians 15:1-4, “. . . how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures”), the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ alone.
No longer are we to live under a combination of the Law of Moses and the Law of Christ. We now live under the New and better Covenant through Jesus Christ, our High Priest that has entered once only. igh Priest HiThe old Covenant has faded away, both physically and spiritually for all who WALK IN FAITH. We do not need any physical law chiseled in stone, as the Lord has placed.
For anyone of us to place part of our salvation on our own “good works” is to say that in some way we can earn our way into heaven. Friends, our “good works” to obtain salvation is truly impossible. Working one’s way to heaven is what all pagan religions and cults teach. Salvation is a gift of God freely given to ALL men. It's not something we must work toward, nor can we achieve it by our own merits. Once we are saved, the good works we do is done because we are already saved, but we don’t do them to EARN salvation.
Absolutely NO ONE person has been able to earn his or her way to heaven. Many people have a false idea that they will be permitted into heaven as long as they do more good works than bad. The Word tells us differently: "For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8-9.
Yes, all these "good works" that we do are only good in OUR eyes. Let us NOT count on our OWN righteousness to save us: "For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own righteousness, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God. For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to everyone that believeth." Romans 10:3-4. Therefore, you and I are totally incapable of EARNING our salvation by our “good works” or through any other way other than Jesus Christ alone.
Now, please, don’t go around saying that I’m teaching that those who are “born again” do not have good works. Nonsense! I’m teaching that one CANNOT EARN SALVATION BY “GOOD WORKS” – “Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.” (Romans 3:22) “For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love…For all the law is fulfilled in one word, even in this; Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.” (Galatians 5:6, 14) A true and living faith always results in action, LOVE. You cannot have the power of Jesus Christ living in you, by faith, as authored by God, and have no outworking of it.
If one is truly “born again” he or she would be recognized by having the fruits of a Christian. The Lord said in verse 20 of Matthew 7 that we would know them by their fruits – “Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.” What are these fruits the Word speaks of? Galatians 5:22-23 defines them as being “the fruit of the Spirit”: which “…is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.” Who are these people that are spoken of? “And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.” (Galatians 5:24-25).
My faith is in Jesus Christ ALONE, plus NOTHING ELSE! Why? Because Jesus said: “I am the light of the world: he that followeth me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” (John 8:12). “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.” (John 14:6-7). If there be any other person claiming there are other ways to salvation, they are wrong according to the Word of God. What do YOU base your salvation on? Let us go on to see what others base their salvation on. We’ll soon see that some will say Jesus Christ PLUS: ONE OF THE BELOW!
LEGAL AND FLESHLY ORDINANCES OF MEN...
When our Lord Jesus Christ walked among men, He taught His disciples to beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and scribes, whom He denounced as hypocrites – “…Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites…” (Matthew 23). He declared they had so corrupted the truth of God which they were supposed to preach, with legal doctrines and fleshly ordinances of men, that the truth as originally given was no longer with them. Jesus repeatedly condemned the Jew Elders for adding their human traditions and doctrines to God’s word (Matthew 15:1-3). Speaking of these ordinances of men (legal and fleshly), they are nothing more than outward “elements of the world” (Galatians 4:3). Let’s look into what some religions believe, and if they really have anything to do with man’s salvation according to the Scripture. Also, see article Last Day Religion and Cults.
…THE SACRAMENTAL VIEW OF SALVATION
Various denominational churches recognize different numbers of sacraments. In the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox (also called Greek Orthodoxy and Russian Orthodoxy) religion, we find they share many of the same characteristics, especially of that which is called the “sacramental” view of salvation, some being similar: the Roman Catholics having seven sacraments; baptism, confirmation, eucharist, penance (or confession of sins), anointing of the sick, holy orders and matrimony. The Orthodox accepts the same sacraments as the Roman Catholic church but with no limit to that number, although the Orthodox church allows infants to receive the eucharist and confirmation, and that married men may become priests, but bishops and monks may not marry, with the rest being the same. Both Catholic and Orthodox have their priests who serve as mediators between God and man. Both have churches full of religious paintings, statues, and relics that people bow and pray before. All of these things in the Catholic and Eastern Orthodox religions are considered by both religions to aid in one’s salvation.
Most Protestant denominations recognize two sacraments; baptism and communion (also called the Lord’s Supper), seeing them as signs of agreement, commandment or ordinance between God and man. Some Protestant denominations believe that one must be baptized in order to obtain salvation. Even the cults believe that baptism saves souls.
…THE MASS, EUCHARIST, OR COMMUNION
The priests of the Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox religion reenact the sacrifice of Christ on the cross in a ceremony symbolically carried out by them which involves the consecration of the eucharist and wine, declaring that specially blessed "hosts" or “eucharists” in the Mass are truly the “body of Jesus" and that the “wine” becomes the “blood of Jesus”. Catholics call this, their doctrine of transubstantiation; meaning: the bread and wine are believed to actually change substance into the material body and blood of Jesus Christ. The Council of Trent, which is still in force today for Catholics, states that anyone who denies that the host is truly Jesus is "anathema" - cursed and to be damned. Many Lutherans talk of consubstantiation, or that the bread and wine both remain bread and wine and take on the real presence of Christ. Other denominations consider the elements symbols of Christ’s sacrifice.
There are many Protestant and Pentecostal denominations which have also developed the same kinds of interpretative accretions about the blood of Jesus. They too refer to the blood of Jesus as being "mysterious", having mystical powers, in which their religious belief, as well as the above, is riddled with heathen teachings and Doctrines of Devils, and is more in harmony with paganism than with biblical truths.
People, it is important for all of us to understand that the Bible teaches that the sacrifice of Jesus Christ, the shedding of His blood, was a once for all sacrifice, and cannot be repeated at any “Mass, as this doctrine was never instituted by Jesus Christ to be repeated over and over on a daily basis – read Hebrews 10:12 – “But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God”; Verse 14 – “For by one offering he hath perfected for ever them that are sanctified.” The mass proposes the constant death of Jesus Christ again and again, in complete rebellion against the Scripture which prohibits against crucifying Jesus over and over, and see how such a practice actually forbids a believer to come to eternal salvation – read Hebrews 6:6 – “If they shall fall away, to renew them again unto repentance; seeing they crucify to themselves the Son of God afresh, and put him to an open shame.”My friends, this is what the “Mass” does…nails Jesus Christ afresh, putting Him to a daily open shame. I say to you, BEWARE of the priests, bishops, pope, and all the other false leaders who have lied to you. The truth is not in them, since they blatantly contradict the Scriptures. They place their tradition and what they say above what God says. The two are not the same. Therefore, such concepts and procedures used by religion and cults, relegates important Biblical truth to the realm of “occult and magical fetishes” and constitutes what Paul teaches us in the Word: Galatians 1:8 – But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”
As long as anyone participates in the “Mass”, whether they are a religious person, priest, brother or nun, they cannot be saved from their sins, and Satan has doomed entire generations of Roman Catholic adherents to hell for all eternity. Do not serve Satan, come out from religion and repent, or hell will be YOUR destination for all eternity. Jesus has warned us about false teachers, whom He called “blind leaders” in Matthew - “Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.” Are you one of the blind, being led by blind leaders? Only you can answer that question, but the Lord knows the truth.
In religion, how many of you have been told that you can only put on Christ by being baptized? How many times have you been told that in order to enter into the kingdom of God, you or a member of your family, even your infant child, must be “born again of water” (baptized with, into, or under water, depending on which religion you belong to) which is essential to your salvation? Is your religion dogmatic about being baptized in water?
Religion’s sacramental view holds that water baptism is a means that God uses in order to convey His grace (NOT TRUE). Yet, other religions teach that a person who is water baptized is set free from the power of sin and given a new spiritual life (NOT TRUE). Some teaching and believing that water baptism is a sign and seal of one’s salvation (NOT TRUE). Other religions teach that water baptism depicts the removal of sin for Christians (NOT TRUE), just as circumcision did for the Jew in the Old Covenant. Some believe and falsely teach that a person must be baptized in water by full immersion only or that person cannot be saved (NOT TRUE). There are other religious denominations that teach a person must be baptized “in the name of the Father, Son, and Holy Ghost” for one’s salvation, and that it must be done by an elder of that religion only, in order to be admitted into that particular religion, again, in order to be saved (NOT TRUE).
Religious denominations go forth with much misunderstanding about water baptism, teaching their theological belief system on the subject as if it were Biblical truth, but is merely a legalistic falsehood.
There are many cults and many religions that teach certain steps are necessary in becoming saved, and one is ‘you must be baptized in water’. There are many groups teaching this baptismal salvation today: several Churches of Christ believe that one must be baptized as a believer by immersion to be saved. They contend that the Holy Spirit enters the person’s heart at the moment of baptism, which is often known as baptismal regeneration, Churches of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints (LDS), also known as Mormons believe that they must be baptized by immersion to become members of this church and for remission of sins and that the ordinance of baptism is their covenant with God to accept Christ, keep His commandments and in return God the Father promises to forgive their sins, United Pentecostal Churches believes that water baptism is necessary for Salvation in order to get ones sins forgiven and that one must speak in tongues in order to be saved (which, they believe, is the evidence of the baptism of the Holy Spirit), Jehovah’s Witnesses has specific requirements for those seeking salvation: They must understand that the entire baptismal arrangement, including a public expression of faith, is essential for salvation (Watchtower Jan. 15, 1989, p 15 How Baptism Can Save us). The Roman Catholic Church believes that by baptism all sins are forgiven, as well as the punishment for sin (See Catechism of the Catholic Church, Part 2, Section 2, Chap. 1, Article VII, #1263 and #977 in Part I).
Many have written to me explaining that their church tells them that they will go to hell unless they are baptized in the way their religion dictates. Others write telling me that their pastor teaches that baptism is a command of the penitent believer for the remission of their sins. What do you believe? What are you taught? Have you checked it out against the Scripture? What does the Word say? Ask the Holy Spirit to teach and show you what the Word (Jesus Christ) teaches. The Bible is quite clear that no work that we do could ever lead to our salvation, just as Titus 3:5-7 said: “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” Notice also what Romans 4:5 says about working for one's salvation: “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”
Jesus explained it very well in John, Chapter 4 – read all of it, as it will help you in understanding that it is in receiving the “LIVING WATER” that Christ speaks of here that is needed for one’s salvation. That LIVING WATER is JESUS CHRIST! We see this especially in the words of Jesus Christ to the Samaritan woman at the well. “Jesus…said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water. (vs.10) – “…whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life. (vs.14). Many religious denominations limit this gift (grace) of God, only to those who do certain “works”. NOT TRUE! It is the LIVING WATER (Jesus Christ) that we must believe in (drink of) just as Jesus explained it to the woman at the well. And, she believed Jesus, as He moved from physical, literal “water” to the “spiritual water” of eternal life, Jesus Christ.
Water baptism justifies no one. If we had to be “water baptized” to be saved, then that would mean that God needs help from a man in order for us to be saved. How ridiculous! And, the more Satan can get us hooked by focusing on religion’s non-essential things, the less time we have in spreading the essential things (i.e., the Gospel, how a person must be “born again” to obtain eternal life, and how to believe on Jesus Christ) to all the world. "Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God" (1 John 5:1).
One fact we must all agree on is that NOT ONE OFI will tell you this much, if you are one who believes that Baptism of water (h2o) saves you; you have already drowned in your religion and are swallowed up in your own dead works. My friends, baptism is NOT a door to your salvation, it’s just one way of getting you wet. The ONLY door to your salvation is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, Who is the Living Water of the New Covenant. The Bible tells us in the words of Jesus: “Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the
can save ourselves by our own “works”, and that not even RELIGION can save us. We can’t DO a work, i.e., being baptized, belonging to a denomination, or anything else, to gain eternal salvation. Read Ephesians 2:8-9 – “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God; Not of works, lest any man should boast.” BY GRACE are we saved, NOT BY ANYTHING WE HAVE DONE, it is A GIFT OF God, IT IS FREE! US .” (John 3:6). Also see article: Water Baptism. kingdomof God
…PRAYING AND PRAYERS IN PUBLIC
I see that there are many others who believe in unified prayer, but for so many different reasons. In
, the management of radio station KAMY, 90.1 FM a fellow leads prayer for the city and individuals each weekday morning, encouraging listeners to pray daily for city-focused issues and needs. They also pray the headlines as they lift up requests regarding local, state, national and international concerns. Listeners are encouraged to call in with prayer requests and they may call in 24 hours a day at “Pray, Lubbock, TX ” – THAT IS, EXCEPT ON THIS MEMORIAL DAY Lubbock HOLIDAYTHEY CANNOT CALL IN between May 31 - 4 June – because Pray, will not occur! Lubbock
“Pray Lubbock” is now praying for a revival in their City on Sunday, March 20th, 2005, calling it “Triumphal Entry, Lubbock Proclaiming the King” for the purpose of declaring Jesus is King on Palm Sunday. Representatives of the whole city have been invited to combine their praise with worship leaders of three major cultural backgrounds of their city.
Also, the veneration of Mary, as the mother of God is central to both Catholic and Orthodox religions, and the intercession through prayer to their named saints and their Mary (not really the mother of God) is emphasized in their liturgical traditions. The Catholics say the religious prayers of their rosary, fifty three “hail Marys” in total, six “our father’s” of which five separate the hail mary’s into five sets of ten repetitive hail mary’s called decades, plus other prayers added in between.
People, do you see how foolish this all sounds? A fellow (is he saved or unsaved?) leads prayer (what kind of prayer, in whose name?) for the city’s focused issues and needs, along with individuals…he/they also pray the headlines regarding local, state, national and international concerns, plus prayer requests from the listeners. They pray 24 hours a day, but don’t want you to call in between May 31st and June 4th, you’re out of luck…because “Pray,
” will not occur! How can people from different religions (come together in prayer) pray for revival, when these same people all have different gods? Whose prayer will be answered? Is Jesus Christ the Mediator of all these prayers? Think about it! Lubbock
Most religions teach people to say magic words over and over for spiritual strength. The Words spoken by Jesus tells it differently: “But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do; for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of before ye ask him” (Matthew 6:7 and read Romans 8:26-28) Many religions today write out words for people to use when talking to God, repeating them over and over. This is definitely against the teaching of Jesus about our praying in secret, where others cannot hear them: “But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.” (Matthew 6:6) The words we use are not important. The Lord knows the heart and He hears the language of our spirit, again Romans 8:26. If our spirit is wrong, special words will not help. If our spirit is right, special words are not needed.
Remember, praying is talking to the Lord in secret, (again, following Matthew 6: verses 5 thru 15). Please, don’t be surprised now, but there are NO prayer towers, NO prayer cloths, NO prayer beads and NO prayer groups in heaven.
Whom do the many religions of the world believe to be the mediator of their prayers? Well, all religions do not have the same mediator, some pray to different gods, or they believe in different mediators, i.e., Catholic mediatrix “Mary”, religious “Saints”, or even the dead. The Word tells us very specifically that there is only ONE MEDIATOR, JESUS CHRIST, between God and men: “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus.” - I Timothy 2:5.
Our Father does not deal with man, we must go through the ONLY Mediator Jesus Christ – as Jesus said in John 14:6, “…I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” Not one person can reach God through “Mary”, religious “saints”, or special “priests”, and not one of “these” can repent of YOUR sin, or believe the Gospel for you. The Word is quite explicit where Jesus tells us: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.” and in Luke 13:3 Jesus preaching repentance: “…except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.” Let us look at Romans -27 – “…for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.” Paul teaches us according to the Word, that we know not what we should pray, but the Holy Spirit will help us in our prayer lives…in our weaknesses…He will intercede for us with groanings that words cannot express, according to God’s will for us. See article: How To Pray.
Many religions teach that those in their membership should and must tithe. Some teach 10% of gross income, 10% of one’s
Holidaybonus, plus more toward the “building fund”, and plus “what you take out of your wallet, you’ll receive ten-fold the amount back”.
Religion takes all the references to tithing out of context, rolling them together, creating a false doctrine of incredible bondage. You may have heard it all from the pulpit. The priest/preacher/pastor agrees with tithing because he was taught that way in the seminary, and these men “believe in tithing”. Do you know what has become an idol of every priest, minister or pastor? Tithing! And, that idol becomes the sole purpose for the existence of many churches in religion. Take away the idol, there’s no longer anything to worship.
Have you not heard from your religion: 1) The tithe belongs to the Lord. 2) Tithing began in the garden of Eden. 3) If you don’t tithe you are robbing God. 4) You had better tithe, or God will take more than 10% away from you. 5) If you don’t tithe, our church will have to close its doors. Ok, now you’ve heard most of it.
This type of erroneous teaching on tithing reflects a misunderstanding of tithing used during the Law. Even though people say that they are not preaching the Law, almost every scripture that is used to teach or promote tithing is from the Law (Old Testament) or was speaking to people who were under the Law, not to the church, the “body of Christ”.
To quote a religious phrase about robbing the Lord with your money (which all belongs to the Lord anyway), whereas religion robs the Lord when they take money from the people and use it for the works of Satan (preachers/pastors who live in mansions, drive luxury cars and wear $3000 suits). It’s the “deluded” supporting the “deluders”. People, you are selling your souls to Satan when you support man’s religion according to a tithing doctrine made by man which contradicts the New Covenant and destroys the power of Christ's finished work on the cross.
Tithing is not spiritual, and Satan certainly doesn’t mind your tithing a percentage of your salary to your pastor or church. He welcomes anything that will take your attention away from the saving truth of Jesus Christ.
Believe this! The Lord owns ALL the gold in the universe! Our streets in the New Jerusalem will be paved in pure gold! Wake up! I’m speaking about eternal life, either in pain or in glory----it’s your choice! Can you not see the danger of man’s religion? Man’s religion is leading the creation toward its destruction and judgment to hell, all in “the gods” of their religion’s name. What is wrong with these humans who use these forms of lies and phony holiness by employing all the big name religious zealots to spearhead their own takeover. Satan knows what he’s doing! I have tried to warn you of the danger and the price ALL will pay for un-repented sin.
Now, this is very simple, if you tithe according to the works of the law you are not saved – read Gal. 2:16 – “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”
…SABBATH KEEPING or SUNDAY WORSHIP
Again, there are still some who seek to be saved by THEIR “works”, whether it be on the 7th day of the week (called the Sabbath by some) which is according to Jewish Law, or the 1st day of the week which, according to some religions, is called Sunday worship. Some religions use Sunday as a Holy Day, or day of rest…others use Saturday as a holy Sabbath day.
On Sunday morning,
July 5, 1998, the Associated Press reported that Pope John Paul II sternly reminded Catholics to obey the “Third Commandment” and go to church on the Lord's day. "In obedience to the Third Commandment [Remember to keep holy the Sabbath Day], Sunday must be sanctified, above all by participation in holy " This statement must have left many Protestants and Baptists in confusion, even more so the Jew today who also attempts to follow the 4th commandment which was given to Israel in the Old Testament: “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy, six days shalt thou labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the Lord made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the Lord blessed the sabbath day and hallowed it.”. Again, this, the Ten Commandments (a.k.a. Decalogue) from the Hebrew Scriptures were given to the Jews of the Old Testament for their instruction and direction on how they must live their lives. Mass.
The Catholic third commandment is: “remember to keep holy the Sabbath day. Whereas the Jews, Protestants and Baptists call this the fourth commandment in a similar way: “Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.”
The Roman Catholic Catechism teaches the following: Paragraph #2192 – “Sunday . . . is to be observed as the foremost holy day of obligation in the universal Church” (CIC, can. 1246 -1). “On Sundays and other holy days of obligation the faithful are bound to participate in the Mass” (CIC, can. 1247). The Sunday obligation #2180 – The precept of the Church specifies the law of the Lord more precisely: “On Sundays and other holy days of obligation the faithful are bound to participate in the
The precept of participating in the Mass is satisfied by assistance at a Mass which is celebrated anywhere in a Catholic rite either on the holy day or on the evening of the preceding day . #2182 – The Sunday Eucharist is the foundation and confirmation of all Christian practice. For this reason the faithful are obliged to participate in the Eucharist on days of obligation, unless excused for a serious reason (for example, illness, the care of infants) or dispenses by their own pastor. Those who deliberately fail in this obligation commit a grave sin.” Either a person goes to Sunday Mass or fails in the above obligation that just read and commits a grave sin. As having been a former Catholic, one would be committing a “Mortal” sin which could put them in hell according to the Catholic church. Mass.
Now, my friends, neither is there any command in the New Testament from Jesus to keep Sunday or Saturday as the Lord's day as is so often promoted from the Roman Catholic, Protestant and Baptist pulpits. Dear people, EVERY DAY BELONGS TO THE LORD, and He did everything necessary for us to be saved from our sinful character. He did it for us because He knew we were so deeply entangled in religious “garbage” that we could never save ourselves, certainly not by “church attendance” on Saturday or Sunday. All that we can do is to trust Him and accept by faith what He has already done for us.
Remember, all the Sabbath commands were part of the Law of Moses, the Old Covenant of God made with
. When Jesus died on the cross, that covenant was fulfilled, taken away, and replaced with His New Covenant for all men. Note the following passages: “For he is our peace, who hath made both one, and hath broken down the middle wall of partition between us; Having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances; for to make in himself of twain one new man, so making peace; And that he might reconcile both unto God in one body by the cross, having slain the enmity thereby” (Ephesians 2:14-16). Also read Colossians 2:13-14 and again Galatians 3:23-25). Check it all out, Jesus paid for your ticket to heaven by GRACE – “For the law made nothing perfect, but the bringing in of a better hope did; by the which we draw nigh unto God.” (Hebrews 7:19). Believe it by FAITH – it’s FREE and it’s YOURS! Israel
Still there are some who seek to be saved by works in the keeping of Jewish law. Paul addresses this same situation in
where Christians were attempting to be justified by keeping the old law and being circumcised. In Galatians , Paul concludes that "…for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain." Later on, in Galatians 5:4, Paul declares: “Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.” So, we can easily see that the works of the law are unable to justify man or save him. And, one certainly doesn’t need a physical law of the letter chiseled in stone, to “keep the Sabbath” when he has entered into “God’s spiritual rest” within his heart. Galatia
CONCLUSION OF PART 2
REJECTION OF BIBLICAL TRUTH
Galatians 1:6-8 – “I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ. But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.” Here we see the great mistake of the Galatians – abandoning the truth of Jesus Christ for another religion, “another gospel”. Paul argues that men were SAVED by FAITH, NOT by the LAW, even in Old Testament times. This is shown in the case of Abraham, who received the promise before Moses received the law. Paul uses the same argument in Galatians 3 as in Romans 4.
Galatians -13 – “And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them. Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree”. My dear friends, we need no Jewish law or Ten Commandments – “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.” (Galatians 2:16). People, we ONLY need Jesus Christ! As it is written: “Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith." But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.” (Galatians 3:24-25) and as Galatians tells us: “Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.” Yes, His Word is truth, believe it and live by it! He has a reminder for each of us that we can fall from Grace by keeping the Law – “Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace” – Galatians 5:4. Dear, dear people, just as Paul warned the Galatians: “Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?” (Galatians 4:16)
Satan, the great fallen angel, has done his job well. Satan is the prince of this world, and has power to influence any aspect of man's doings on this earth. Yet most people do not even believe he exists, exactly what Satan wants, he doesn’t want you to believe that there is such a thing as Satan, the devil or his demons. Every person on this earth had better be aware of Satan's devices. We need to know what he is up to and be able to discern clearly what spirits are working to deceive us. But, his days are numbered and the Lord has given him a time to reign as “prince of this world”, and then it’s to hell with him in the
for all eternity. Please understand that God, in many places in the bible, makes it plain that He has ultimate control over Satan. "Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world (Satan) be cast out." John - Satan’s 1st casting out wasn’t his last. Read Revelation 12:7-10; Revelation 20:2-3; and Revelation 20:7-10. I personally love Revelation 20:10 and speak it when needed to be spoken to that evil devil who has destroyed so many souls – “And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.” Lakeof Fire
Matthew 25:41 – “Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:” The lake of fire has already been prepared for Satan and his evil angels. Isn't it hard to realize that, along with Satan and his evil angels being destroyed in the lake of fire, there are those humans, even our loved ones, who also rebelled against God's truth and willingly rejected Him? What will happen to them? They too will also be destroyed in this fire. What the Creator creates, He can destroy!
Here, we see above, that in the end Satan and all who reject Christ shall lose – “For many are called, but few are chosen.” There are so many people who actually receive the calling of God, but very few really respond to His love IN SPIRIT AND IN TRUTH.
Everything one needs for their salvation and daily living is in the New Testament, called the NEW COVENANT of GRACE. Grace is NOT found in your church buildings built with man’s hands, nor can a man lead you to Grace. Many pastors in denominational religion prefer to pacify and appease their members rather than fearlessly insisting they thoroughly examine their hearts to determine if they are walking obediently and accordingly to the Word. After all, it’s your eternity, your choice, your free will, no skin off their nose. Man has been fed a pack of lies for centuries, and Satan is the author. Why not trust the Holy Spirit who is the author of the Word of God? No man can know Jesus Christ unless he/she has been drawn to Him by His Spirit – “No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me…He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.” John 6:44-45, 47.The Bible is quite clear, as you have seen scripture after scripture in this article, that “no work that we do” could ever lead to our salvation, just as in Titus 3:5-7: “Not by works of righteousness which we have done, but according to his mercy he saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the Holy Ghost; Which he shed on us abundantly through Jesus Christ our Saviour; That being justified by his grace, we should be made heirs according to the hope of eternal life.” Notice also what Romans 4:5 says about working for one's salvation: “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.”
Yet, there are so many others, who, after they have once believed, revert back into the Law by living under their denominations “religious works” of righteousness (or even their own works of righteousness), that they have become backslidden – “For if I build again the things which I destroyed, I make myself a transgressor. For I through the law am dead to the law, that I might live unto God.” (Galatians 2:18-19). If a believer of Jesus Christ reverts back to the practices of the Law, he or she in effect nullifies their former confession that they believed their justification was based on faith alone, and “Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.” (Galatians 5:4). They have then cut themselves off from Jesus, fallen from grace, and are now in a backslidden state.
Once we come into the New Covenant through the blood of Jesus Christ, any attempt on our part to return to the rituals and practices of the Old Covenant is nothing more than a form of “works righteousness”. And, those who foolishly believe they are pleasing God through these works are totally ignoring the teaching of the Bible “…without faith it is impossible to please him.” (Hebrews 11:6). And, since “…the law is not of faith” (Galatians ) – it is impossible to please HIM by the practice of it.
Only a genuine love for Jesus Christ on our part will drive us to seek after Him with all our heart. A great reward awaits all those who seek after their Creator who desires to be sought after: the knowledge of Jesus Christ – “Who will have all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth.” (I Timothy 2:4). This is the life of victory! Receive it today while it is yet today! Accept Jesus Christ today! Live Him every day of your life!
God is a loving God, and he wants us to know what is coming so that we can prepare. He has warned us about the enemy's tricks so that we can defeat him by turning his devices back on him and pulling down his strongholds. We live in a fallen world corrupted by sin, and consequently, all we do is imperfect. But, through all of this, we KNOW that there is ONLY ONE WAY for a person to get to heaven, and that is THROUGH THE LORD JESUS CHRIST! Jesus said: “I AM the WAY, the TRUTH, and the LIFE: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.” (John 14:6). Good works cannot save anyone! Baptism cannot save us! Keeping the Seven Sacraments will not get anyone to heaven! Praying cannot save us! The Law or Ten Commandments cannot save us! ONLY THROUGH JESUS CHRIST ALONE Who is the WAY, the TRUTH and the LIFE, are we able to come to the Father. No other way! Satan is continually seeking to mislead every person on earth and corrupt their thinking from “the simplicity that is in Christ.” (2 Corinthians 11:3).
Some of you have asked me… “…every religion has problems, so why criticize mine?” My answer to you is simple. Yes, I agree, ALL religions do have problems. I have tried to explain to you why there are so many problems – BECAUSE THEY REJECT BIBLICAL TRUTH and follow the false teachings of religions of men. Others write to tell me that the Bible teaches that we are supposed to love other people. Yes, it truly does, and I most assuredly love all souls, but I will rebuke the false teachings and fleshly efforts of men that will send many to hell in the name of denominational christianity, and will continue to criticize any religion that teaches NOT the Word of God, but rather teaches a “works” salvation.
Yes, I am very critical of the religions of men because ALL are deceitful and false. Don’t you know that Satan is a master counterfeiter, always attempting to counterfeit the truth with his doctrines of lies. The Word says: “"For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transforming themselves into the apostles of Christ. And no marvel; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works." (2 Corinthians 11:13-15). This is one good reason to be critical of religion, to expose the falsehoods of religion which come to us in the name of Jesus Christ, deceitfully appearing as true Christianity.
Most people are woefully ignorant of the Scripture which the Holy Spirit has given us and they fail to recognize the truth of the Word, as they have not been taught to study to show themselves approved unto God (2 Timothy 2:15). Why is this? Because false religions and its leaders have plain out ignored Scripture, claiming that a concern for doctrine causes division and therefore should be avoided for the sake of “love” and “unity” among its members. The Scripture, however, is in opposition to such teachings in Romans – “Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and avoid them.” There are so many who have been indoctrinated with doctrinal issues and religious propaganda that they believe and blindly accept whatever their denomination has taught them all their lives. And, so it is, the apostasy continues to grow day by day!
How about you? Will you remain strong in the truth of His Word and come to Him on His terms, or will you be like all who have itching ears? “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (2 Timothy 4:3-4)
People, we are now in the End Times! You have read throughout this article the many ways in which a person REJECTS BIBLICAL TRUTH. Again, I say to you, if you continue in seeking salvation by trusting in the works of the Law (Galatians ), or trying to establish your own righteousness through legalism, the traditions of your fathers (Galatians ), you are merely in “religion”, having “…a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.” (Romans 10:2), and are not being led by the Spirit (Galatians ). You have rebelled against Jesus Christ… the Word, the Truth, the ONLY WAY to heaven. Therefore, you are in UNBELIEF (sin), and will not be allowed to enter into His rest because you believed NOT (Hebrews -19)!
I ask you now, will you believe the Word of God, that Jesus is the ONLY way to obtain salvation? Will you confess with your mouth who Jesus is and all that He has done for you? It is through faith in Jesus Christ and what He did for ALL mankind, including you, the door will be opened from what had separated you from your Savior, which is your unbelief, your rebellion, your rejection of His truth, your sin. You can escape the
which is the end for all those who will not believe His truth. You can overcome all things! “For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God? … And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.” (I John 5:4-5, 6) Lakeof Fire
No matter what each person’s position is in this life, each one must submit to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. He sets down the rules in His Word, and we must come to Him on HIS TERMS, no longer leaning on our own futile efforts. Then, we must trust and believe Him, JESUS CHRIST ALONE, for our salvation.
“Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved”
