Pride

By The Holy Spirit's Disciple, Raymond Laginess

A CONCEITED SENSE OF ONE'S SUPERIORITY

Matthew 23:6 "And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, (7) And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men, Rabbi, Rabbi. (8) Be not ye called Rabbi; for one is your Master, even Christ; and all ye are brethren. (10) Neither be ye called masters; for one is your Master, even Christ. (11) But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant. (12) And whosoever shall exalt himself shall be abased." Matthew 20:26,17; Mark 10:43, Luke 9:45, 18:14.

Luke 14:8 "When thou are bidden of any man to a wedding; sit not down in the highest room; lest a more honorable man than thou be bidden of him. (9) And he that bade thee and him come and say to thee, give this man place; and thou begin with shame to take the lowest room."

Romans 11:17 "And if some of the branches be broken off, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree. (18) Boast not against the branches. But if thou boast, thou bearest not the root, but the root thee. (19) Thou wilt say then, the branches were broken off, that I might be graffed in. (20) Well, because of unbelief they were broken off, and thou standest by faith. Be not high-minded, but fear. (21) For if God spared not the natural branches, take heed lest he also spare not thee (25) Brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits, that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in."

Romans 12:3 "I say, through the grace given unto me, to every man that is among you, not to think of himself more highly than he ought to think; but to think soberly, according as God hath dealt to every man the measure of faith. And what hast thou that thou didst not receive? Now if thou didst receive it, why dost thou glory, as if thou hadst not received it? (8) Now ye are full, now ye are rich, ye have reigned as kings without us; and I would to God ye did reign, that we also might reign with you. (10) We are fools for Christ's sake, but ye are wise in Christ; we are weak, but ye are strong; ye are honorable, but we are despised."

(18) Now he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth."
