God's Sword of Truth - The Word
"Speaking to yourselves in psalms and
and spiritual songs, singing and making melody
in your heart to the
Lord. "Ephesians 5:19
Music is not of the Lord and certainly not Christian. Music serves the Devil and is not of faith. It is just another way or means of man to show a form of self-righteousness. Music in any form is earthly and fleshly. It is all of the flesh and invokes feelings if only for a short moment. Music does not honor the Lord no matter what kind of music it is. There are musical instruments that have a symbol of heavenly places such as the harp or flute, but these have nothing to do with Christian faith or salvation. The melody or music must be in your heart. You cannot put words and tunes to a sound and call it gospel. In scripture, gospel is harmony in the heart with the Lord. It is a spiritual, not physical sound. Let your heart sing praises unto the Lord by the Holy Spirit who helps us in all things. As it is written in Ephesians 5:19, "speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody IN YOUR HEART to the Lord".
There is a Hallelujah chorus that sings Hallelujahs to the Lord-God while He is on His throne in heaven, and in Revelations 14:3 it is written. They sang a new song unto the Lord. Songs and music are from a spiritual source, not a fleshly or worldly nature. Music is not supposed to make you feel good, but to give glory to the Lord. No man can do justice in praises to the Lord. He must have the Holy Spirit to translate for him. As it is written, we can do nothing of ourselves, "For if a man think himself to be something, when he is nothing, he deceiveth himself."Galatians 6:3. Christians need the Holy Spirit who is the go-between to the Lord for us, "Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered."Romans 8:26.
There is no feeling to faith. Hence, no feeling in song. It's to the Lord's glory that we spiritually sing in our hearts to Him. Christians do not sing for themselves or others who listen. Also, there is no such thing as 'soul' music. It is blasphemy! There are no holy rollers or African voodoo music or emotionalism. There are only the Devil's dances and hopping to the Devil's beat. A Christian can not portray spiritual signs or acts by man's music. If it's not of the Lord, then it's of the world and music is most certainly of the world.
Man's ways are not the Lord's. No one knows the mind of God. He created us and He can vanish us away. He puts up with us because of His love for us, not the other way around. As it is written in 1 John 4:19, "We love him, because he first loved us". We, as Christians please the Lord by our faith, our love and our lives in Him. People, do as Christ did, live as He lived. You will not find it written in the Word that Christ came, sang and died for us. In fact, no where in the New Testament (new covenant) will you find that Christ sang to anyone! We as Christians are told to be Christ-like. If Christ did not go around singing, neither should His people. However, Christians can sing praises to Christ in their hearts.
If you look to the Book of Psalms (in the Old Testament) you will notice that the 150 spiritual poems of David, Solomon, Haggai and Ezra are not songs. They are poems showing their love for the Lord. These poems deal with life in the MESSIANIC PERIOD. This period deals with Jewish History and the coming of the Messiah as spoken by the Old Testament prophets. These poems in the Book of Psalms are an example to Christians, so likewise, do the same. Spiritual poems and music are not the same thing. The Lord wants to hear from us in our own way and in our own words, not with repetitious prayers of others or songs from someone else. The Lord wants to have a personal and individual relationship with you, just you and Him. Making melody in your heart to Him.
In a fellowship of Christians there should never be a repetitious or repeating format, a ritual of events or a burden of song. In a fellowship of Christians there is no worship service in a building. There were such things in the Old Testament because the Jews were under the Law and that was the Lord's plan then. However, Christians are not under the Law, but under Grace. Christians worship the Lord by their lives in Him everyday and not just once or twice a week. To really worship what the Lord has done for us is to repay Him by living the life of Christ as a gift. The real body of Christ has no set format, ritual or custom as the Catholics do. The Catholics have a surface and fleshly-works worship service. They don't know how to worship the Lord in spirit. Also, all other religions have some form of ritual on certain days of the week (Baptist, Methodist, Episcopalian, Lutheran, etc.). Christians are the Lord's temples (1 Corinthians 3:16-17 & 6:19 and 2 Corinthians 6:16), He lives within us, in our hearts, and does not dwell in a box made of wood or clay. No one can handle or hold the Lord. He is not a piece of bread to eat. A Christian's food is spiritual. A Christian's water is the birth of spiritual water from the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit never leaves your temple unless you drive Him out. A Christian will know when the Holy Spirit is dwelling within then by the light shining in their heart that others will see. As it is written in 1 Thessalonians 5:5, 1 Peter 2:9, Matthew 5:14-15, Luke 8:16, 11:33, 2 Corinthians 4:6, 6:14 and Philippians 2:15.
Brethren, again I warn you, there is no such thing as Rock music, Christian rock, Country music, Soul music, etc. etc. ALL music is of the Devil and he is the author. Music is fleshly, expressing feelings, feelings that are contrary to the Spirit. There are no words that man can put to music that would be holy or in any way do justice to the Lord. You can't sing your way to heaven. Listen up ALL SINGERS and hear me well, you can't sing your way to heaven all you're doing is giving lip service. The Holy Spirit does not give people singing voices or gifts of singing. Christians do not entertain each other or witness by singing words. Christians live Christ everyday and spiritually sings praises and make melody IN THEIR HEARTS, not with their mouths, to Christ. You shall see their works of faith by example and not by music. As it is written in 1Corinthians 13:13, there are three good virtues for a Christian to live by and they are Faith, Hope and Charity. A Christian lives these virtues, He doesn't sing it.
My words are but a warning as a watchman. In this world, I do not like what I see. Widespread sin, evil and unrighteousness, everything that is contrary to the Lord's Will. Satan is singing his song to the world and they are all caught up in it. Watch out what men will say to you, especially men of religion. Test (or try) all spirits (1 John 4:1) and ask yourself, whose light do they shine? (Luke 11:36, 12:35, John 3:21 and Ephesians 5:8).
