God's Sword of Truth - The Word
A definition of an Icon:Image or a likeness; a pictorial representation, a conventional religious image typically painted on a small wooden panel....an object of uncritical devotion: idol. (Webster's 7th Collegiate Dictionary).
Talking idols, pictures and statues are tools of Satan and foolishness of man. The Word warns us all in 1 John 5:21, "Little children, keep yourselves from idols"and 1 Corinthians 8:4, "as concerning therefore the eating of those things that are offered in sacrifice unto idols, we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and there is none other God but one", also, found in Old Testament Law: Ex. 20:4 and Ex. 34:17 about the use of idols. An idol is the worshipping of a false god. Man-made idols or statues are not of God. They cannot talk, they do not bleed or cry and the Creator has warned us in his Word about such things. The Lord hates idols. Any human being that thinks that the above-mentioned signs are from the Lord are dead in spirit, foolish in their ways and lost souls.Definition of Idol: 1)An image of a god, esp. a heathen god, to which worship is offered. 2)In the Bible, a false god. 3) Any object of extreme or passionate devotion. ..... image. (Webster Illustrated Dictionary, Encyclopedic Edition).
The Lord needs no help from idols or icons made of clay or wood. These things are not miracles, but are false visions from Satan. There is nothing that man can create of things of this earth that can serve the Lord, as it is mentioned in God's Word , "But Solomon built him a house. Howbeit the Most High dwelleth not in temples made with hands; as saith the prophet. Heaven is my throne, and earth is my footstool: what house will ye build me? Saith the Lord; or what is the place of my rest? Hath not my hand made all these things?" Acts 7:47-50. Man has made or done nothing that shows glory to the Lord and as it is written, "We are all dung" (Philippians 3:8). All those who try to please the Lord, using these worldly items, do not know the Lord (Romans 8:8).
A perverse generation is always seeking signs from the Lord, "An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it." Matthew 12:39. We have been warned by this wicked generation of religious, Catholics being the worst of them all. The Catholics have many idols, obelisks, statues and pictures that they worship. No man can make an image of anything in heaven and do it justice. The countenance of Jesus cannot be made into a statue or picture reproduced by any man.
You cannot pray to an idol, statue or photo. Satan can give you phony and false visions in any form he wants. The Catholic is trying really hard to deceive the world with new visions and signs today (Matthew 16:1-4, Mark 8:11-13, and Luke 11:29-32). Satan has little time left and he is going about seeking more souls for his hell, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour", 1 Peter 5:8. There are no signs from the Lord today, no special miracles, no special men of God with special insights. Don't believe them or give in to them. Don't buy this lie.
If man or religion uses any type of gimmick, do no believe them. It's of Satan, no matter how good it looks. The Lord does not work this way; He uses the Holy Spirit to fulfill His Will. Satan is using all the signs today as the Lord forewarned us about in Matthew Chapter 24. The Lord has told us before what to look for. Who do you want to believe? Man or the Lord?
Another important fact that I want to warn you about is the crucifix (your number one icon). The crucifix is not a representation of Christ; it is an image used by Satan to take your heart off what Jesus did for all of us on the tree. People, Jesus is not on the cross, but is in fact alive in heaven at the right hand of God. Jesus' blood is the object that is important, for "...without the shedding of His blood", there "is no remission"of sin and no salvation (Heb.10:22), also read all of 1John 5:1-21. Catholics have their priorities all wrong. Their vision is on things and objects of the world which are not holy. What Jesus did for us is holy. You don't need a reminder, especially if Jesus (by the spirit) resides in your heart, then you have everything.
Jesus will never leave you, for you are His tabernacle (2 Peter 1:13-14, 2 Corinthians 5:1-4, 6:14-18). You are the church, house or building. You don't need visions or miracles. Think strong on this, as by faith you shall know the truth. "For by faith are ye saved, and not of yourselves, it is a gift of God." Ephesians 2:8.
Another point, Christianity is not a cross or crucifix around your neck, which is an emblem of Satan. Christians should know that they do not need an outward sign of Christianity. Necklaces, earrings, scapulars, medals and trinkets resembling heavenly images are not signs of the Lord but in fact come with a demon attached. Remember, Satan's sole purpose is to deceive, so he will use whatever means he can to get you to believe a lie even by using holy looking images. Don't advertise your faith by signs but rather live it instead. Let your light shine from within, let others see your light. Be a light for Jesus in a dark world. It seems that all pagan ideas in the use of icons, idols comes to us by the church of Rome. Do not do the things of the pagans, such as wearing beads, but put on the righteousness of Jesus insideof yourself. No true Christian wears their faith outside, but shows it from the inside.
There is an interesting point about Mary, the flesh mother of Jesus. She had other blood children and she can not be the Catholic's mother nor act as a go-between (mediatrix as Catholics call her). Only Jesus can do that, He is the only Mediator between God and man (Luke 10:21-14, John 14:6, Hebrews 1:1-4, 4:14 and Hebrews 5:10). Before the birth of Christ, Mary was a virgin. She had other children after the birth of Christ, she gave Joseph more sons and daughters. She is not what the Catholics' say she is. Do not look to her for any help in salvation because she can't help you. She is not the mother of God. The only reason Mary was called blessed was because she was chosen to bring Christ Jesus into the world. She was blessed for that reason alone.
Please remember, all idols and icons, no matter where they come from, are all cultic in nature, whether they are statues, pictures, wooden crucifix on the wall, gold cross around the neck, images in the likeness of men or women named in the bible....it doesn't matter, they are all pagan and not of the Lord, Jesus Christ.
Have you ever thought about the many idols used in today’s world, by all kinds of people? Many people have great collections of things. How about you? Do you have a collection of religious items, statues, trophies, dolls, music albums, etc..? How about sport cards, stamp collections, cookie jars, tea pots? Does your little girl collect Barbie Dolls, plush toys....how about your young son, does he have a collection of sport cards...or do you add to his collection of violent video games for the family’s pleasure whenever you go shopping? Do you allow your teenager to collect all the music albums of the rock and roll artists who have mesmerized them with their evil music? How about you sports fans...do you collect all the sports memorabilia you can get your hands on? How about this - - do you decorate your yard with the Catholic statues of Mary and the Catholic saints? Here comes the big question - - What about those who collect Christmas decorating items and enshrine their house with hundreds of lights and statues of santa clause and the nativity scene during the pagan holidays? Well, people, you are all in trouble....you have a pagan god before you and you idolize that pagan god. No! you say? Then why do you have these things....why are they necessary in your life? People, just open your eyes and think about what you are doing....Christ should be first in your life....nothing else should matter, and if you have these things of the flesh and world, (and believe me, they are absolutely of the world), you will surely die a spiritual death. “For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live.” - Romans 8:13.
"Forasmuch then as we are the offspring of God, we ought not to think that the Godhead is like unto gold, or silver, or stone, graven by art and man's device. "- Act.17:29"Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen - I John 5:21.
