Heresies - False Teachings

By The Holy Spirit's Disciple, Raymond Laginess

There is one thing that all religions have in common, it's not their heresies, or false teachings, these they have, but not in common. It's the fact that each one has a MAN who founded the religion or belief the members follow, or are called by. The ones I'm about to list are main line, well known, and by no means all that are in the world.

There are men starting new religions every day. There is only one true body of Christ, one fellowship in Christ and only the Holy Spirit knows who they all are. And it has no religious name and is not a tax write-off. It's FREE.

AGNOSTICISM.....Denies that there is a revelation, and therefore denies the Bible. An agnostic acknowledges that there is a God, but will not allow that God can reveal Himself to the creatures of His own hands. An agnostic deliberately rejects; his gnosticism is with him a "creed" of illogical ignorance. To him there is no personal presence of, or contact with, God.

ANNIHILATION.....The doctrine of annihilation teaches that life after death does not exist. Believing that there is "no eternity of punishment". Annihilation is the act of reducing to nothing.

ATHEISM.....Denies the very existence of God. The character of the atheist is one that has pleasure in them that do evil. They teach that man is a mere accident and that immortality is a sheer illusion. These things are taught in the name of Science in our schools and colleges.

BAPTISMAL REGENERATION.....It is being taught that baptism as a sacrament saves. It is believed that certain power or authority is vested in the church and in the clergy so as to make it a saving ordinance. The doctrine of Baptismal Regeneration belongs to Rome. The Romanists do not consider that the work of Christ, accomplished for men by His death, is by itself sufficient, for by the imposition of such rites as Penance and absolution they supplement it, and so invalidate its adequacy.

BRITISH-ISRAELISM.....Believes that the Anglo-Saxon race is the lost ten tribes of Israel. Also, believes that the English peoples are "saints of the Most High", to whom all the kingdoms of the world shall be given.

CHRISTADELPHIANISM.....Teaches that the Lord Jesus Christ was merely a man and assert that the Lord Jesus had not existence previous to His incarnation. Christadelphians deny the atoning value of the death of Christ. They teach that the Spirit is not a personal God distinct from the Father, but the radiant, invisible power or energy of the Father, filling universal space....thus denying the personality of the Spirit of God. They do not believe that Satan exists, but believe that the Devil is a scriptural manifestation of sin in the flesh. They deny hell and believe that hell and eternal torments are merely fiction.

CHRISTIAN SCIENCE.....Mrs. Mary Baker G. Eddy is the foundress of Christian Science. She was an ex-spiritualistic medium. Christian Science teaches that "life, truth and love constitutes the triune God, or triple Divine principle" and "The theory of three persons in one God suggests heathen gods." Thus, they do not believe in the Father, Son and Holy Ghost. They deny the God of the Bible. They deny the Word. They do not believe in the blood atonement for sins. They believe that God and man co-exists and are eternal, thus the Divine Mind is the Soul of man, and gives man dominion over all things. In the 1903 edition of Science and Health, page 113, are given Mrs. Eddy's 4 basic propositions. They are , in her own words: "1.) First, God is all in all., 2.) God is good, good is mind., 3.) Spirit being all, nothing is matter., 4.) Life, God, omnipotent, good, deny death, evil, sin, disease - disease, sin, evil, death, deny good, omnipotent, god, life." Thus teaching that the mind cures. Their teachings take away Jesus Christ as the Savior of all men. It denies His actual birth, repudiates Him as the Christ, makes Him to be as full of errors as other mortals, rejects the Atonement of the Cross, says He never died, never was buried and never rose, teaches that He is not in heaven at all.

EVOLUTION.....Teaches that there is no evidence of a Divine Creator. Evolution is man's theory. The evolutionist assumes that hundreds of millions of years ago one or more tiny, one-celled, living organisms appeared on the earth. Bacteria and amoebae are regarded as examples of these earliest life-forms, which are supposed to have possessed such marvelous powers of development that after long ago they gave rise to all the varied forms of plant and animal life we find around us in the world today. Evolutionists believe that the first living cells evolved from sand or mud or slime.

EVOLUTIONISTS.....Also believe in the ape ancestry of man. The people who believe in Evolution only believe in theory, not fact.

HUMANISM.....Francesco Petrarch (1304-1374), an Italian scholar and lyric poet, contemporary of Dante, initiated the Humanistic Movement. Humanism is a culture of social freedom, a system of thinking, as man's interests and development are central and dominant in life. The Humanist believes that the chief end of man is to improve himself, and that he is inherently good and of infinite possibilities. They believe that man should not submit to injustice or sufferings without protest, and should endeavor to remove its causes. They believe that improvement comes from within and that no man or God can 'save' another man. Also, they believe that suffering is the natural result of breaking the laws of right living. This is purely intellectualism.

MORMONISM.....Founded by Joseph Smith, with himself as "seer, translator, prophet, apostle of Jesus Christ, and elder of the Church." He led his followers in open polygamy. They follow a practice called baptism for the dead. Mormonism teaches that God is an exalted man, once a man on earth as we are now, ever changing and advancing, but never absolutely perfect. They believe that God the Father was a man and dwelt on an earth, the same as Jesus Christ. They teach that Adam is God, the Supreme God, the Creator of this world, Father of all, Prince of all and the Ancient of Days. Also, they teach that Mormonism is the sole Church of the living God, to which all nations are required to submit.

JEHOVAH'S WITNESS.....Founded by Russell. They believe that Jesus Christ is spirit and a man. That there will be no Second Coming. They teach that Christ is a created being. Also, teachings are that there is no hell or everlasting fire - punishment.

ROMAN CATHOLICISM.....Practices idol worship and has images before them....this is by their own Catholicism of the Council of Trent....which says: "It is lawful to have images in the church, and to give honor and worship unto them," "Images of the saints are put in churches as well, that they may be worshipped." Rome is hostile to the Bible and both prohibits, and when unable to do that, discourages the reading of the Scriptures among her adherents. Liguori of the Roman Catholic church, whose writings at the time of his canonization were declared to be absolutely free from error, teaches that "He who is under the protection of Mary will be saved; he who is not will be lost....." teaching that she is more merciful than the blessed :Lord Himself. Rome's claim, through Pope Pius X, is that "The Pope is not only the representative of Jesus Christ, but He is Jesus Christ Himself, hidden under the veil of the flesh." Also writers of the Canon Law say, "The Pope and God are the same, so he has all power in heaven and earth." The Roman Catholic Church teaches that in the sacrifice of the Mass the priest makes a Propitiatory Sacrifice for the sins of the people." They teach that sin will not be forgiven without the confessional, and that the priest or Catholic bishop alone has the power from Christ to forgive sins. Teaches the doctrine of Purgatory. Teaches that un-baptized infants go to a place called "Limbo", and will never see God or be admitted to heaven. They keep the Law of Moses. They have religious sacraments. They believe that only Catholics are in heaven and that there is no salvation outside of the Roman Catholic Church. They also teach that the blood atonement of Jesus Christ is not enough, but that they must do works and penance.

SEVENTH-DAY ADVENTISM.....Seventh-Day Adventism, Christian Science, and Theosophy have one thing in common, at least - they all had hysterical, neurotic women as their Founders! (so says Wm. C. Irvine and A. McD. Redwood writers in "Heresies Exposed" book.) Mrs. Ellen G. White was the founder of the "ism" Seventh-Day Adventism denies of man's salvation. Seventh-Day Adventism denies the finality of the work of Christ on the cross....it declares Satan to be the joint sin-bearer, and the vicarious substitute of the sinner. They are also taught that their sins still remain upon the books of record, even though they are pardoned. They teach that the Lord Jesus Christ inherited a sinful, fallen nature....and that "Christ is not, therefore, the complete and perfect Savior man needs and must have in order to be saved." They don't believe in eternal punishment....they believe in natural immortality or "consciousness in death". They are under Law and keep the Sabbath Day.

SPIRITISM.....Denies the personality of the Lord Jesus, the Bible account of the Fall of Man is a legend, and the misleading "future bliss" is not by faith in "notions of atonement and vicarious sacrifice", but by "merit that Heresies, False Teachings that man lays up for himself by slow and laborious process." It denies resurrection, judgment to come and man's eternal destiny! They believe in mediums.

THEOSOPHY.....Not a religion, but a revival of "Ancient Wisdom" which lies behind all religions alike.....Its own definition is:"An all-inclusive synthesis of truths, as it deals with God, the Universe, and Man and their relations to each other." They deny a personal God...."do not believe in atonement, nor in the possibility of the remission of the smallest sin by any god, not even by a personal Absolute or Infinite." They believe in possible Reincarnation. They believe in the advent of a World Teacher.

UNITARIANISM.....They deny that Christ is God. Unitarians teach: to worship Christ is idolatry. The Unitarians proclaim three Gods, not One. They say that there is only one Uni-personal God, and He is not Christ, nor the Holy Spirit.
