God's Sword of Truth - The Word

Statement of Faith

By The Holy Spirit's Disciple, Raymond Laginess

We believe in one God, infinitely perfect and eternally existent in 3 persons, the Father, Son and Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost).

We believe that the Scriptures of the New Testament, in the King James 1611 or Authorized Version, to be the verbally inspired Word of God. These Scriptures, taught by the Holy Spirit to each individual believer, is the supreme and final authority of the Lord-God.

We believe that man was created in the image and likeness of the Lord-God. We also believe that when man first sinned (Adam through Eve), the human race or descendants incurred both physical and spiritual death, therefore, being alienated from God, man incurred a "sin nature".

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is the only begotten Son of the Father.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ lived a sinless and perfect life that pleased the Father. We believe that Jesus Christ died for our sins on the tree (cross). Jesus, the sacrificial lamb of God, bearing the judgment demanded by God's holy justice against sin, made it possible for all those who believe on Him (and ask forgiveness of their sins in His name) to be "saved". All those who believe in Him are justified by His shed blood.

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ rose bodily from the dead, never to die again, and is ascended to the right hand of the Father, where He (Jesus) intercedes as High Priest on behalf of all who believe in Him. Jesus is the mediator between God and man (Hebrews 7:25). We believe that an individual cannot know the Lord Jesus Christ but by the Holy Ghost (1 Cor. 12:3, Eph. 2:18 and 2 John 14:26).

We believe that those who, by faith alone and through no merit of their own, repent and receive the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior are miraculously born again of the Holy Spirit and receive the free gift of eternal life and are then known as the children of God and partakers of His divine nature (Ephes. 1:13,14 and 2 Peter 4).

We believe that the Holy Spirit (or Holy Ghost) spiritually baptizes all true believers into the one true church (the body of Christ), that He indwells in them, bestows spiritual gifts upon them, guides and teaches them and empowers them for effective service and holy living.

We believe that the Scriptures (or God's Word) are spiritual guidelines that each believer needs for daily living in this world. As Jesus said, "if you love me, keep my Word".

We believe that the Scriptures have given us everything pertaining to life and godliness, including not only salvation from the penalty of sin but instructions in righteousness for present sanctification and victorious living to the glory of God, the Father.

We believe that at death, the souls of the redeemed pass immediately into Christ's presence, to remain there until the resurrection of the body of Christ's return for the Church (2 Cor. 5). We also believe that at death the souls of the lost go to Hell, where they remain until they are brought before Christ at the Great White Throne judgment, to be judged and cast into the Lake of Fire where they will remain for all eternity.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of the redeemed at the premillennial return of Christ for His Church (Rapture), also believers who are alive at that time, their bodies will likewise be transformed into immortality, and all will be caught up together to meet Christ in the air, ever to be with Him.

We believe in the personal, bodily return of the Lord Jesus Christ to rescue Israel (144,000 chosen) at Armageddon, to establish His millennial kingdom, reigning over this earth with His redeemed who will reign with Him in their new spiritual and resurrected bodies for 1,000 years and afterwards will be with the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in the new heavens and new earth.
