God's Sword of Truth - The Word
Why Christians should not celebrate Christmas!
The main point of this article is, what is the truth? I'll list the facts and you make up your mind. I will use the Word of the Lord as my guide. This truth will upset a lot of religions who justify the celebration of Christmas out of custom and tradition of man. Besides, it may upset the Catholic religion, which added the tradition of Christmas, the pagan ideologies, to their own religion back in the 300's AD. I'm not writing this to please men, so let the sword fall on who it will.
Christmas is Catholic, and the Christmas word is made up of their Christ (daily bread god), and the Mass (daily god sacrifice). This is where they bring their Jesus, down from heaven, and put him in a piece of bread and then they pass him out to eat of his body at the altar. So they take Christ, add Mass, and get Christmas. They picked the day....December 25th, because this date was used by pagans in the winter time as a worship to the Sun god - (The Birth of the Unconquerable Sun), which is of pagan rituals.
ACCORDING TO SCRIPTURE . . . .
. . . . Jesus was born in the fall of the year - around SEPTEMBER. No where in scripture are we told to keep or celebrate any such days. In fact, we are told just the opposite - not to keep any days as the heathens did, whether by their ceremonys, customs, traditions, of which all are of the world. Christ is alive everyday, and lives in the hearts of believers, not just one day a year.
THE WORLD CELEBRATES CHRISTMAS, THEREFORE IT IS NOT OF GOD
You cannot serve Jesus and keep a pagan (Catholic) holiday. We are told: "Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man love the world, the love of the Father is not in him." - I John 2:15. "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of man, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ." Which master do you serve?
As Catholics are not Christian, but actually serve Satan, we should be very careful not to have any connection with them or their special days of bread god worship (which is after the devil). "Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of man, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ." - Col.2:8. You cannot be luke-warm on this subject. You cannot say: "I see nothing wrong with celebrating Christmas...after all it is for the children". The Word states we are not to offend the children by lying to them, but we are to teach them truth. Christmas is a big lie. It's evil and you can not paint it white. It is not the spirit of Christ in love and peace, but is, in fact, depressing, a high suicide month, full of war and hate, which are all of the devil. You must make a stand on this. You can't be a fence walker. Be HOT or COLD. You will answer for your actions and you will give an account. Christmas is not of Jesus Christ, it is the Catholic Jesus, who is Antichrist.
In the next few parapraphs, I'm going to list many facts about December 25th or the holiday of the Catholic Christmas. Keep in mind how old the holiday is. Did you ever wonder why the Apostles did not celebrate the birth of Christ?...nor did the Jews at the time of Christ or after He died? The faithful Jews who accepted Christ did not celebrate His birthdate. Nowhere in the Word will one find scripture to tell us to celebrate or remember Christ's birthdate, it doesn't even have the date of His birth in it.
Oh, stiff-necked people, look at who has bewitched you. You have become luke-warm and shall be spit out of the Lord's mouth. You cannot claim lack of knowledge, not after you read this. What you do with it is your free will choice.
Scriptural Truth on the significance of DECEMBER 25th
"There was in the days of Herod, the King of Judea, a certain priest named Zechariah, of the course of Abijah; and his wife was of the daughters of Aaron, and her name was Elizabeth.".....LUKE 1:5.
There were twenty-four courses of serving in the priesthood, and the course of Abia was the eighth (Jewish History...."The Seventh to Hakkoz, the Eighth to Abijah") The course was changed every week beginning with a Sabbath. The Sacred year began with the month Abib or Nisan, hence the eighth course would fall on the month, Sivan, 12 to 18 (or June 13-19), in the year 5 B.C. Following his administration, the aged priest departed to his own house (LUKE 1:23..."And it came to pass, that, as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, He (Zechariah) departed to his own house.") hence, to a city in the country of Judah (verse 39).."And Mary arose in those days, and went into the hill country with haste, into a city of Juda." The hill country would be to the south, possibly Jutta, a city of Levites, a distance of about 30 miles. Remember, the priests have their own cities. The day following his administration would be a Sabbath, naturally he would not travel. The following day, Sivan 20, would be the return home and if we allow for two days travel, this would bring him home on the evening of Sivan 21. Keep in mind he was an old man, and traveling afoot. Allow him a day's rest and the conception of John by Elisabeth would fall on Sivan 23 (June 24). His birth would be on Nisan or Abib 7 (March 28).
Our Lord's begetting took place at the end of the 6th month following the conception of John (LUKE 1:28..."And the angel came in unto her and said, Hail, thou that art highly favored, the Lord is with thee; blessed art thou among women...(verse 36-42)...."And behold, thy cousin Elizabeth, she hath also conceived a son in her old age; and this is the sixth month with her, who was called barren. For with God nothing shall be impossible. And Mary said, Behold the handmaid of the Lord; be it unto me according to thy word. And the angel departed from her." This would be Tebeth 1 (December 25), 5 B.C. Hence, 280 days later would bring us to his birth in the month, Tisri, (September), 4 B.C. The Word was made flesh (begotten) around September (fall of year) and dwelt (Tabernacled) among us (born) in September (JOHN 1:14..."And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us.....")
We note in LUKE 2:6..."....the days were accomplished that she should be delivered." Inasmuch as 280 days constitutes the normal period of human gestation, we can be sure that Mary's pregnancy endured for the full period of days - no more, no less.
September 29 was the beginning of the feast of Tabernacles. Remember this is what John says: that is, HE dwelt (Tabernacled) among us, etc.
Some facts about DECEMBER 25th - or the holiday, CHRISTMAS
Despite its popularity, most Americans know nothing of the origins of Christmas and its traditions.
Christ was not born on December 25th. The first Christian to write on this subject, from a historical perspective, was John Chrysostum. John Chrysostum was born in Antioch; this was the city where the Apostle Peter was bishop - and also the place of his death. In the year 380 A.D., John Chrysostum wrote: "It is not yet ten years since this day was made known to us." In fact, the early Church often refused to recognize any kind of holy days or holidays as they are now called. GALATIANS 4:8-11...."Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods. But now, after ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage? Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years. I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labor in vain." This was Paul speaking to the Galatians. Also see, COLOSSIANS 2:16.
Since Christmas (or December 25) is not Christ's birthday, its true origin may be of interest. Charles Spurgeon said: "That Christmas is a pagan festival is beyond all doubt. The time of the year and the ceremonies with which it is celebrated prove its origin." Spurgeon, a great theologian of the nineteenth century, had performed no small amount of research into the origins of Christmas. He knew that December 25 was an important holiday to the pagans millennia before Christ.
In ancient Babylon, 2,000 years before Christ, December 25 was one of the most important holidays. According to the Babylonian religion, the Queen of Heaven, Semiramis (Nimrod's wife) gave birth to her son Tammuz on December 25. Idols were often made of the mother and child, and the day was called a "Yule" day. Yule is the Babylonian word for "child". December 25 was one of the most important times observed in the ancient world, for astrologers knew it to be the winter solstice ("Solstice", the meaning from Webster Illustrated Contemporary Dictionary, Encyclopedia Edition states either of the times of year when the sun is farthest from the celestial equator, either north or south. In the northern hemisphere the summer solstice occurs about June 22, the winter solstice about December 22.)
As is common knowledge among historians, the Babylonian religion was often transplanted to new cultures. The Roman Republic, and later Empire, adopted many Babylonian customs wholesale. The Roman holiday of December 25 was called "natalis sole invicti", or birth of the unconquered son. The day was usually referred to as Saturnalia ("Saturnalia", the meaning from Webster Illustrated Contemporary Dictionary, Encyclopedia Ed..."the feast of Saturn held in ancient Rome in mid-December, and marked by wild reveling and abandon).
In an effort to stamp out the pagan beliefs, the church of Rome, which later came into being as the Catholic Church, renamed Saturnalia "Christ-Mass" by the 5th century, and the Catholic church ordered it to be celebrated on the day of the old Roman feast of the birth of Sol. Many holidays were thus brought into being - Christmas, Halloween, and Easter are still hybrids of (pertaining to) pagan, Catholic beliefs. Remember, the Roman world had been pagan. Prior to the 4th century, Christians were few in number though increasing and were persecuted by the government and by pagans. But, with the advent of Constantine as emperor, who made his profession of Christianity in the 4th century, placing Christianity on an equal footing with paganism, people of the Roman world began to accept this now-popular Christianity by the hundred of thousands.
But remember, these people had grown up in pagan customs, chief of which was this idolatrous festival of December 25th. It was a festival of merrymaking, with its special spirit. They enjoyed it! They didn't want to give it up! Now, an article in the New Schaff-Herzog Encyclopedia of Religious knowledge explains how the recognition by Constantine of Sunday, which had been the day of pagan sun worship, and how the influence of the pagan Manichaeism, which identified the son of God with the physical sun, gave these pagans of the 4th century, now turning over wholesale to "Christianity", their excuse for calling their pagan-festival date of December 25th (birthday of the sun-god), the birthday of the son of God.
Justifying CHRISTMAS - Does it really honor Christ?
Now come three arguments often used to justify Christmas observance, often used by those who call themselves Christians.1. Many will reason this way: "But, even though the exact date of Jesus' birth is unknown, should we not select some date to celebrate as His birthday and what's wrong with putting aside December 25th as Christ's birthday?" The answer is positively no!Well, how does God answer in His Word. Jewish History...."Take heed to thyself that thou be not snared by following them, after that they be destroyed from before thee; and that thou inquire not after their gods, saying, How did these nations serve their gods? even so will I do likewise. Thou shalt not do so unto the Lord thy God; for every abomination to the LORD, which he hateth, have they done unto their gods; for even their sons and their daughters have they burnt in the fire to their gods. What thing soever I command you, observe to do it; thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it".
2. But, many still reason, "Even so - even though Christmas was a pagan custom, honoring the false sun-god, we don't observe it to honor the false god, we observe it to honor Christ, and we have before us the beautiful nativity set to remind us of the Birth of Christ." The answer is positively no!
3. Even more so, they will tell us, "But we buy Christmas gifts out of love, it's a time for giving and loving and by buying and receiving gifts, we show our love for each other." The answer is positively no!
God tells us plainly through His Word (the Bible) that He will not accept that kind of worship, even tho intended in His honor. To Him, He says, it is offering what is abominable to Him and therefore it honors, not Him, but false pagan gods. God says we must not worship Him according to the "dictates of our own conscience" - a term we often hear. But Jesus said plainly, "God is a Spirit; and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth."....JOHN 4:24.
Again, Jesus said: "But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men."....MATTHEW 15:9. Also, COLOSSIANS 2:20-22...."Wherefore if ye be dead with Christ from the rudiments of the world, why, as though living in the world, are ye subject to ordinances,(Touch not; taste not; handle not; which all are to perish with the using) after the commandments and doctrines of men?" TITUS 1:14..."Not giving heed to Jewish fables, and commandments of men, that turn from the truth." Christmas observance is a tradition of men, and the commandments of God, as quoted, forbid it. Jesus said further,...."....Full well ye reject the commandment of God, that ye may keep your own tradition."-MARK 7:9..."Beware lest any man spoil you through philosophy and vain deceit, after the tradition of men, after the rudiments of the world, and not after Christ."- COLOSIANS 2:8. Christmas observance is a tradition of men, and the commandments of God, as quoted, forbid it.
That is precisely what the millions are doing today. They ignore the commandment of God...again and again and again. He commands, regarding taking the customs of the pagans and using them to honor or worship God: "Thou shalt not do so unto the Lord thy God." Still, most people today take that commandment of God lightly, or as having no validity whatsoever and follow the tradition of men in observing Christmas.
LUKE 6:46....."And why call ye me, Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?" He expects total commitment. He demands that we come out of Babylon of confusion that characterizes so much religion today.
So along with the excitement of learning new truth, comes the responsibility of making some painful decisions. Don't compromise. God does not want to take from us anything that is good. His way of life is filled with exciting experiences that mean something and lead somewhere, not empty, senseless and often very expensive rituals.
As you take the plunge and follow God's way of life, you will begin to miss the "old wine" less and less. You will see it for what it is - a hollow counterfeit of the real thing. God is showing you the way to freedom from all that. Instead of looking back at the fraudulent ways of this world, you will begin to anticipate the excitement of helping others learn the truth about the pagan custom and tradition of Christmas (man's holiday and holyday).
MAKE NO MISTAKE! God will allow you to defy and disobey Him. He will allow you to follow the crowd and the traditions of men. He will allow you to sin. But He also says: "Be not deceived; God is not mocked; for whatsoever a man soweth; that shall he also reap. For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption: but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting"....GAL. 6:7-8. Jesus Christ is the living Word of God in Person, and the Bible is the written Word of God. And we shall be judged, for eternity, by these words! They should not be taken lightly or ignored. "Little children, keep yourselves from idols". - I John 5:21.
Once again, let's go back to buying gifts to each other....Christmas has become a commercial season. It's sponsored, kept alive by the heaviest retail advertising campaigns of the year. You see a masqueraded "Santa Claus" in many stores. Ads keep us deluded and deceived about the "beautiful Christmas spirit." The newspapers, who sell the ads, print flowery editorials exalting and eulogizing the pagan season and it's "spirit." As was said earlier, "But we buy Christmas gifts out of love, it's a time for giving and loving and by buying and receiving gifts we can show our love for each other...." A gullible people has become so inoculated, many even take offense when told the truth. It's another one of Satan's delusions, appearing as an "Angel of Light", and is made to appear good. Billions of dollars are spent in this merchandising spree every year...it's part of the economic system of Babylon! How does your charge statement read following the month of December? Plastic money, paper money...it really doesn't matter, people will continue to spend until they are so far into debt that it takes them nearly a year, until the following Christmas, to pay off their bills, and only to start all over again...and some will say, "But it felt so good to buy all those gifts for my family and friends"....It's simply another lie of Satan!!!
I pray that God has opened your mind to understand the truth about Christmas along with all the biblical truths - for a reason. But even though you've been called out, there's still a strong urge to conform. Oh yes, many recognize the origins of today's Christmas observances, but these people still compromise. "What's the difference?"..they ask. Yet it must make some difference - some of them are your hottest antagonists! That you dare act on what you know torments them. They will even say, "How could you not celebrate Christmas....".....
. . . "I just can't believe that the Lord would not want you not to celebrate His birthday.". . .
Then....they urge you to compromise - but you must not (ROMANS 12:2)...."And be not conformed to this world; but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God." We should be profoundly sorry that others can not see and obey the truth at this time - that they even harass us when we do obey. Note: I PETER 4:16..."Yet if any man suffer as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God on this behalf."
In JOHN 15:18-20, Jesus tells us we're not of this world, and that we will be persecuted as He was. "If the world hate you, ye know it hated me before it hated you. If ye were of the world, the world would love his own; but ye are not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore, the world hateth you. Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also." God's people have always seemed out of step to the society around them. But in realty, it's the world that's out of step with God.
THE IDOLATROUS CHRISTMAS TREE
Now, what about the Christmas tree? Trees have been important elements in many pagan religions, Babylon included. There are several stories about the origin of the Christmas tree. The modern Christmas tree is supposed to have originated in German lands in the Middle Ages. But long before that, the ancestors of the Germans customarily decorated their homes with lights and greenery at the winter festival. Since evergreens were green throughout the dead of winter, the ancient Germans looked upon them as especially imbued with life. It was in honor of the tree spirit or the spirit of growth and fertility that greenery was a prominent part of ancient pagan winter celebrations.
The Romans trimmed trees with trinkets and toys at that time of the year. The Druids tied gilded apples to tree branches. It is difficult to trace back exactly where the legend first gained popularity, but to certain peoples an evergreen decorated with orbs and other fruit-like objects symbolized the tree of life in the Garden of Eden.
The Old Testament gives us a description in Jewish History....."Thus saith the LORD, learn not the ways of the heathen, and be not dismayed at the signs of heaven; for the heathen are dismayed at them. For the customs of the people are vain; for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the ax. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers, that it move not." Now read what the Lord has to say about idols..........(Jewish History)...."Every man is brutish in his knowledge; every founder is confounded by the graven image; for his molten image is falsehood, and there is no breath in them." Now some say that this was a palm tree, but does it really matter what type of tree was used at Christmas or as an idol? In olden times, it was a tradition to worship the sacred oak of Odin, father of Scandinavian kings. Later, the Catholic missionary Boniface traveled from England to Germany and was successful in getting people to substitute an evergreen tree instead of an oak in honor of the Christ Child....isn't it still all pagan worship? And, about the year 1800, Hessian mercenaries brought the tree-trimming tradition with them to the western world, and the artful decorations of trees by German settlers is credited with initiating a pagan practice that is continued today. How can we not be wise to a clearer description of a Christmas tree? The Bible clearly shows that it was an ancient custom (Jewish History) to cut down trees, decorate them and put them in their homes! God warned his people not to learn their way, or follow it. The lighted Christmas tree is nothing other than a glittering idolatrous form of pagan worship.
Do you realize that Christ never put His name on Christmas? Do you realize that lying is involved by telling children about Santa Clause? Why not tell them the truth? Do you realize that coveting material things seems to be the true "spirit" of the holiday? Do you realize that murder, suicide, drunkenness and a host of other sins are committed more during the Christmas season than at any other time of the year?
As there were false prophets in the Old Testament times of the Jew, it is also prophesied, there shall be the same in the last days before the Second Coming. The Angels of Light of the church speak of Christ and teach of Him, but inside they deny Him and don't really believe in Him. Can't you see this? The churches of today deny their Savior by believing a tradition that rejects the only sign Jesus gave to prove He is the Messiah.
Satan always tries to take our eyes off Jesus and what He has done for us, by putting false things before us of the flesh and the world, which on the surface look good, but in fact they do not hold truth as the Word teaches. "Little children, keep yourselves from idols". - I John 5:21. Who do you want to believe?
"THIS I SAY THEN, WALK IN THE SPIRIT, AND YE SHALL NOT FULFIL THE LUST OF THE FLESH."
