God's Sword of Truth - The Word

By The Holy Spirit's Disciple, Raymond Laginess

Are you anxiously watching and waiting for the soon return of Jesus Christ?  HE IS COMING SOON!  Or, have you, by your own choice, allowed Satan (the deceiver) into your garden?  Perhaps you are looking for THE Antichrist to come forth just so you can see who he is?  That’s right!  So, WHICH CHRIST are YOU prepared to meet?  Is it Jesus Christ or the Antichrist?

According to the Word, we all know that Antichrist is not Satan, but that his “…coming is after the working of Satan with all power and signs and lying wonders…” (2 Thessalonians 2:9).

In the Bible, the word “Antichrist”, is found only in I John 2:18, 22; 4:3 and II John 7.   Here, John mentions “many antichrists” who are liars and denies “that Jesus is the Christ?”  This pretty much describes any false teacher/preacher/person as a corrupter of the Word.  These “antichrists” are self-explanatory and are several, more than one, and finally “…every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist…”  “…many deceivers…who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh…is a deceiver and an antichrist.”  We know from the Word that there are many antichrists living and walking among us today.

I know that nearly everyone reading this has been watching daily the “World Events” that are happening, especially those which have happened within the last few years, and all are on course with what Scripture tells us will be the conditions during the time which surrounds the rise of the Antichrist. Paul's terms for the “Antichrist” are "that man of sin" and "the son of perdition; Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God." (2 Thess. 2:3-4).  And, finally, the Antichrist himself will only be revealed when the “church” (body of believers in Jesus Christ) is raptured from this earth – “For the mystery of iniquity doth already work: only he who now letteth will let, until he be taken out of the way.” (2 Thess. 2:7).  "He who now letteth" may be best understood as referring to the Holy Spirit, who alone has the power to hold back iniquity, “that man of sin”, and Satan (2 Thess. 2:9).

Continue on in II Thessalonians 2:9-12 which says Antichrist will come, “…with all power and signs and lying wonders, And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.  And for this cause God shall send them strong delusion, that they should believe a lie: that they all might be damned who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.”  The people referred to in the above Scripture as “them that perish” are those who have rejected the gospel of grace prior to the “taking out of the saints”; the rapture.

So, with all the world events happening daily now, the real question is, ARE YOU PREPARED AND READY to meet the Lord Jesus Christ in the air?  Every believer in Jesus Christ should be “Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ” (Titus 2:13), watching and waiting for this pre-tribulation rapture of His true “church”, the “body of Christ”, knowing that FOREVER we shall be with Jesus.  So, let us all continue to “look up”, “Therefore be ye also ready: for in such an hour as ye think not the Son of man cometh.”  (Matthew 24:44).  We need also to read ALL of MATTHEW 24.

After reading Matthew 24, we see that Jesus plainly tells us in verses 36-44 that He will come for his bride, the true church, at an unexpected time. Then will come seven years of tribulation on this earth; a time no man has ever seen.  However, there is hope!  Let us rejoice!  The Lord has promised us that He would deliver His “true church” from the wrath of God that will be poured out during those seven years. The rapture of His church is the fulfillment of that promise.  I Thessalonians 5:4, 6, 9-11 - “But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief…Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.  For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ, Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him. Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.”

Christ will return for those who have died and those who are still living and deliver us from the wrath and tribulation that will be suffered by those who follow the Antichrist.  “Much more then, being now justified by his blood, we shall be saved from wrath through him.” (Romans 5:9) and I Thessalonians 1:10 – “And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus which delivered us from the wrath to come.”

Jesus tells us He is coming for His Church – “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.  In my Father’s house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you.  I go to prepare a place for you.  And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.” (John 14:1-3)

We also see in Paul’s First Epistle to the Thessalonians that the Christians asleep in the Lord shall rise first, then those which are alive on earth will also be caught up together in the clouds to meet the Lord Jesus in the air:  “For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we which are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord shall not prevent them which are asleep.  For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.  Wherefore comfort one another with these words.”  I Thessalonians 4:15-18.  People, just think how truly CLOSE we are to being gathered together to meet Jesus Christ, our Creator and Saviour, in the air!

Whether we live to see the rapture of the “body of Christ” or we die before the rapture takes place (we’ll still rise from the grave to meet the Lord in the air), there is only ONE thing to remember, the key to our eternal salvation is OUR BELIEF and FAITH IN JESUS CHRIST ALONE!  People, there is NOTHING ELSE!  May the joy of His soon return fill your soul with gladness.

NOW… it’s time… let us examine our faith according to HIS WORD that we know positively Who/who it is we are following and Whose/whose appearance we are looking forward to.  ALL must examine their life (mine first, then yours) as true Christians.

Here is a test of our faith!  Will we really be ready when He comes?

Let’s look at each of the words, “Hot”, “Cold” and “Lukewarm” to see what the Word tells us about them.  In Revelation 3:15-19 we see that Jesus speaks to the Laodicean church, saying:   “I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: I would thou wert cold or hot.  So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth.  Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked:  I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eye-salve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent.”  Why did Jesus say these things to the church of the Laodiceans?  He said these things because these were a self-righteous people, filled with the “world”, heaping to themselves worldly treasures, while being in the state of spiritual blindness.  It is the same in the “churches” today.  We have the same kind of “lukewarm” people in the mainstream churches, practicing a Word-less faith in a religion of unbelief.  These are they who stand in the pulpits and sit in the pews, raising their hands in praise, while in their heart it’s a different story; they know NOT the TRUE Jesus Christ, for they seek material things more than seeking Jesus Christ, the Word. They belong to the same corrupt system as UNBELIEVERS.

Yes, Satan has had a primary plan since the Garden of Eden, but he is here on earth through the evidence of the teachings of “false preachers” and “false teachers” who preach/teach regularly the carnal doctrines of Satan in his buildings of carnal worship.  Remember, Satan is behind EVERYTHING that disagrees and goes against the truth of the Word.  One only has to look and listen in order to see the deception in these false teachings; especially on television and radio, along with the written books and web pages, or in just reading the news about their travels around the world working false “signs and wonders” with their set-up people proclaiming their false testimonies of healings, all derived from their sinful and evil minds and hearts.  Yet (keep looking), there are these “purpose driven” thousands upon thousands of people (more like millions upon millions) who have itching ears, no longer delighting in the Lord’s Word, no longer desiring to hear the truth of His Word, but, instead, they sit in the mega rows of the mega churches listening to all the mega lies of the mega false teachers who make mega $$$’s from all the mega people.  Listen up people, this church I’m speaking of is the last church, the “apostate church” in the “last church age” which strives for consensus and ecumenism in marketing their message while, at the same time, disobeying the Word.  And, as Jesus said: “…I will spue thee out of my mouth.” (Rev. 3:16).

You surely must know whether you are Hot, Cold or Lukewarm!  Do NOT be a part of these “lukewarm” denominational country club types of churches, they are all part of the “final church” remaining on earth today and they are NOT Christian, but false!   These seeker friendly false churches have watered down what Jesus Christ did for all men through HIS PLAN of salvation, by HIS shed blood on the cross for forgiveness of all men’s sin.  They have replaced Jesus Christ and substituted Him with ANOTHER Jesus, one that will give them a “purpose driven life” full of self esteem.  They would never acknowledge that they are sinners in need of the saving grace of Jesus Christ.  No way!  These would rather be brainwashed into believing that they are “something special” sitting in their pews, when all the time, these sheeple (people who are easily persuaded and tend to follow the crowd) are being made “merchandise of” for gain and profit (2nd Peter 2:2-4).

The people in the religious world today are responsible not because the truth is inaccessible but because they have turned their backs to it deliberately.  Therefore, the majority of professing Christian church-goers will, sadly to say, run to become members of the false, or harlot church of the tribulation period.

We each must decide whether we are Hot, Cold or Lukewarm, and there can be no “middle of the road” here.  Jesus said in Luke 13:24“Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.”  BE NOT ONE OF THESE!  BE HOT FOR JESUS CHRIST!
Each of us can know by His Word who we are in Jesus Christ:

Colossians 1:14
tells me that it is in Jesus Christ “…whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.”

I Corinthians 6:17 tells me that I in Jesus Christ am one with Him in spirit “But he that is joined unto the Lord is one spirit.”

Colossians 2:9-10 tells me I am complete in Jesus Christ “For in him dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily.  And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power.”

Philippians 3:20 tells me that I in Jesus Christ am a citizen of heaven “For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

This could be a difficult question for quite a few people, and only because they either live by what their religious leaders “teach”, or what they choose to believe on their own.  Further more, religious leaders do not teach the entire truth of the Word, and the “sheeple” choose to believe “whatever”, and would rather “follow the leader” with absolute blind obedience.

We see in Revelation 19:13, Jesus is called “The Word of God”, and the Word Jesus speaks to us in Matthew 4:4 tells us that we are to live by “every Word” – “But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.”  The Word also says in John 6:40: “And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.”   Amen, amen!

The Lord expects us to be faithful to His Word.  In Matthew 7:24-27 Jesus tells us:  “Therefore whosoever heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man, which built his house upon a rock: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell not: for it was founded upon a rock.  And every one that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand: And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.”   We must allow it to abide in our minds and hearts, walking and living it daily.  It is written – “…be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.  For if any be a hearer of the word, and not a doer, he is like unto a man beholding his natural face in a glass.” (James 1:22-23).

How many actually study the Word of God to see what it is the Lord has said?  Or does what you hear or read from men have a ring of compromise?  The current trend of the popular “church culture” today is teaching and believing ANOTHER Gospel.  Do NOT follow it -- it’s actually a gospel from hell and will put you there sooner than you think.

The Word says: “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Timothy 2:15).  We must be like the Bereans who “searched the Scriptures daily” (Acts 17:11).   The Bible was written for our learning: “…that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.” (Romans 15:4), and the Word further says: “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness. (2 Timothy 3:16).  By studying and learning His ways and His plans for our lives we can only find hope, and the Lord Jesus Christ is our HOPE!  (I Timothy 1:1).

Sure!  You couldn’t possibly read any part of the New Testament without becoming aware of some very pointed warnings to those in the “body of Christ”  concerning danger in the world around them.  Let’s look at 2 Corinthians 6:14 – “Be ye not unequally yoked together with unbelievers: for what fellowship hath righteousness with unrighteousness? And what communion hath light with darkness?  Unbelievers are destitute of faith; therefore, the believer is solemnly warned and must come out from among them, and separate ourselves from their vain and sinful pleasures, having no part in the corruptions of this present carnal and evil world.

The Word makes it quite clear that we should “…take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place… (2 Pet. 1:19).  We profit from the Word when our eyes are opened to discern the true character of the world.   “…this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.” (1 John 5:4).   We profit from the Word when we learn that Christ “gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world…” (Gal. 1:4).

My friends, WE are accountable, the Lord holds US personally accountable for OUR knowledge of His Word.  And, if you are swallowing everything a preacher/teacher says because you know him well and trust him to tell you the truth, well, that’s nothing more than an invitation to danger and disaster.  And, we see those on their preaching pedestals, teaching the “sheeple” to “feel good about yourselves”… “You should only have the good things in life” … “If you don’t think you can have something good, then you never will.”  These preachers come out of men’s Bible colleges which do not teach the Word by the Holy Spirit, and all they have to show for it is a piece of paper that says: Pastor or Minister so and so with a Master of such and such degree.  Were they picked by the Holy Spirit?  No!  I don’t believe they were - and these men usually come out of a seminary which holds yearly contests to see which graduate will end up being the best speaker of each year’s graduating class, and which young man will win “best in showmanship”.  These things were seen by me and several others on television which had been broadcast from a Baptist Seminary/College. Sure, these same young men were brought to a head-knowledge of Christ through the efforts of men (who already hold degrees in Divinity, Ministry and Theology), spouting professions of their faith, and living relatively commendable lives, but the problem with these people is SPIRITUAL, they never believed in the Word Jesus Christ for the saving of their own souls, nor that of their followers.  Are they ashamed of the Gospel that is presented in the Bible?  Paul tells us that the people are “Ever learning, and never able to come to the knowledge of the truth.” (2 Timothy 3:7).  Imagine, just imagine, what shock and horror these countless numbers of souls (false teachers/preachers and sheeple) will experience when the Lord Jesus Christ speaks these words to them: “And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity.” (Matthew 7:23).

2 Timothy 4:3-4 says it all: “…they will not endure sound doctrine, but after their own lust shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables”.  Also – 2 Timothy 3:5, Paul says they: “Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away.”   This goes, not only for the preachers, but the sheeple who have been led to the spiritual slaughterhouse by religious charlatans.  Jesus called them hirelings (John 10:11-13).

Again, let us examine ourselves further:

Look at Matthew 10:37“He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.”

Here is where we must choose – and the stakes are enormous – they are eternal!

Now, if you bring children into this world, you certainly incur an obligation to take care of them, and serving Jesus Christ is no excuse for neglecting them physically or spiritually. In a world where our schools, television, movies, and music all offer tempting counterfeits of what the Lord promised us, there is only one safe place for our children: in the loving arms of our Lord and Saviour, Jesus Christ. So while it is yet today and your children remain with you, train them in the WAY they should go, and that WAY is ONLY IN JESUS CHRIST.

We know that we are commanded to love God above everything and everyone.  Jesus told us this in Matthew 22:37-38 – “…Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.  This is the first and great commandment.”  We are to love God even more than our own family members.  Again, I repeat: “He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.” (Matt. 10:37).  It cannot be emphasized enough.  Please read article “The Christian Family” -  http://www.godsswordoftruth.com/christianfam.htm.

Sometimes, some are so easily persuaded by Satan into allowing “other things” or “blood family (DNA)” to become idols that take the place of Jesus Christ.  Even for many, the Lord Jesus Christ may be PRESENT in their life, but they have NOT put Him FIRST.  Sometimes it is ones own personal ambitions, love of pleasures, possessions or family that comes first.  Many people claim Jesus is present in their lives; however, they do NOT permit HIM to be FIRST in their life.

Do you know that when we put Jesus Christ first in our life we are set free from the bondage of depending on another person, whether it be mother, father, children, or our spouse?  When JESUS IS FIRST, He is our ONLY source to meet all of our needs; physical, spiritual and emotional.  My friends, this sets you and I free, free “to love the Lord thy God”.

Do you also realize that the One who died for you on the cross is the very One who created you, your parents, and your children, even your spouse, if you have one?  It IS Jesus Christ “In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins; Who is the image of the invisible God the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him: And he is before all things, and by him all things consist.  And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.”  Again, Jesus Christ must be FIRST in all things.  He is intolerant of any other idol taking His place and intolerant of our unfaithfulness towards Him.

Even if we should lose EVERYTHING we have or own, let us have Paul’s attitude who said in Philippians 3:8 – “Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord…”  We should ask ourselves, “Could I lose everything I have for the sake of following Jesus Christ?”  I pray the answer is “yes” for our own sake.  Otherwise, those who cannot answer “yes” were told by Jesus “He that is not with me is against me…” (Matthew 12:30).

Sometimes we’ll see our own family members, whether intentionally or unintentionally, put pressure on the one serving the Lord to compromise his/her allegiance to Jesus; a spouse may feel threatened by our commitment to Jesus, our children may rebel against us because of our urging them to follow Jesus, and our parents may tell us that they have their own religion, and not to bother them with Scripture, then Jesus becomes a “sword” that “cuts and divides” our families.  Whatever may be the circumstance; we must never compromise or apologize for putting Jesus Christ FIRST.  Look at Mark 3:31-35“There came then his brethren and his mother, and, standing without, sent unto him, calling him.  And the multitude sat about him, and they said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren without seek for thee.  And he answered them, saying, who is my mother, or my brethren?  And he looked round about on them which sat about him, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!  For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.” Amen and Amen!

You all know how excited I get talking about Jesus and watching for His soon return, and I can’t tell you enough times “BE PREPARED” for He’s coming soon.  The Word tells us: “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” John 3:16.  Friend, call upon His Name to save your soul and accept Him as your Saviour.  Time is so short and may the Lord Jesus find you ready to meet Him at HIS COMING!

"That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation. For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all is rich unto all that call upon him. For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." Romans 10:9-13

"Sirs, what must I do to be saved? And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved." Acts 16:30-31

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast." Ephesians 2:8, 9

“Blessed is that servant, whom his lord when he cometh shall find so doing.”
