God's Sword of Truth - The Word

Christians Do Die

By The Holy Spirit's Disciple, Raymond Laginess

The Word tells us that it rains on the good, as well as the bad – “…for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.” (Matt. 5:45).  Physical death is death of the body we live in.  Even if some of you don’t want to accept it, EVERYONE is going to die at one time or another in their life.  We also know that Christians do not ALL die of old age, and, some possibly die from one of the many diseases in the world.  Why does it happen?  Because it is the result of man’s sin and the death sentence has been passed upon mankind through the transgression of Adam.  Of course, there is one exception here, and that is, not all men shall sleep (die), for the Christians who are alive on the earth at the time of Christ’s coming shall all be changed (I Corinthians 15:51-57).

God’s governance is established in the Christian’s life, not by coercion, but by choice.  It is the WORD which lays down the ground rules as to how we live our life, and how to remain in our relationship with Jesus Christ and with others.  It was Jesus Who taught us about the straight and narrow way, and pointed out to us the folly of the wide and broad way (Matt. 7:13).  It’s very clear that Jesus expects us to know, understand, and obey His words.   If we violate His way, do we not pay the price?  Of course we do!  If a saved person sows to please his sinful nature he'll die spiritually (Rom. 8:13; Gal. 6:8-9). The end result of sin is spiritual death, so DO NOT BE DECEIVED (James 1:14-16).

According to the elements, if we were to go out into the cold with nothing on, our body would definitely react, and no doubt, we would be affected by doing such a thing.  It’s the same way with those who are saved; those who still smoke and drink alcohol cannot pray to God that these things won’t harm them, because they will, even possibly kill them.  One cannot pray and change any of God's laws or rules of nature.  For all those seeking the fountain of youth, or having a tuck here, a body lift there, it will not matter, for ALL on this earth will age, grow old, and in time will die.  There is however, a chosen or appointed time for every person to die – “…as it is appointed unto men once to die…” (Heb. 9:27) and no prayer could ever change that time.

For any preacher to say "we are all children of the King and shall all live old ages and be totally healthy" is not teaching what Scripture teaches.  We are still in the world and effected by its ways.  A Christian who is a bad driver and has an accident could get hurt.  If a Christian is in a plane crash, he or she will possibly die.  We know that the Holy Spirit is alive in the world, and yes, there are healings and miracles, but it is as each person believes, as each has faith, as a grain of mustard seed (Matthew 17:20).  Read the Bible and see just how many ways Jesus performed miracles, based on the faith of the person involved.

"For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: not of works lest any man should boast."--Eph 2:8-9.  It is through our faith in Jesus (a.k.a. grace, God's gift), that we are saved!!!
Our faith produces salvation, not the other way around.  We cannot have salvation first, and then believe.  It is by faith that we are saved according to the Word of God.  Our faith grows by the amount of the Word we feed it, and live it.  Also, we cannot allow another man to be our faith for us, for no man can save us, no matter how holy he appears. What we are in Jesus Christ is what we allow the Holy Spirit to teach us.

All Christians overcome flesh, the world, and Satan, by the power of the Holy Spirit and the Word.  If we overcome in a spiritual sense, we are better off than someone that overcomes in a physical sense.  It is like saying, "I am in the world, but, not of the world, not part of it".  Our body suffers the effects of the world such as hot and cold, sun and rain.   When the elements are in turmoil, we too are affected by them, but we are not afraid of them.  If a storm comes, or the earth moves, we are in the Lord's hands.  There is nothing of this earth or its ways that can harm us.  Our Lord knows how and when it is our time to go, and we are in His hands at all times.

Stand on the Rock –  “…and that Rock was Christ.” - I Cor. 10:4, the foundation of Christ – “For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.” I Cor. 3:11 - and nothing can move it.  The Lord-God created all things, including you and me, and, who, but He, can look after us.

It doesn't matter how long you live, or where you live on this earth, but what does matter is how your life is lived while you are on this earth and that is what truly counts.  Our destiny will be to become like Christ – “…but we know that, when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.” (I John 3:2), to live with Christ and share with Him in glory – “When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.” (Col. 3:4) - and to be His people, His sons, inheriting all things and being with Him forever – “…Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God…He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.” (Revelation. 21:3, 7).
