God's Sword of Truth - The Word

"Another" Gospel

~ Part 2 ~

By The Holy Spirit's Disciple, Raymond Laginess

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.  As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”   (Gal.1:8-9)

Let every person who is a disciple (witness) of the Word Jesus Christ judge for himself according to and by the Word of God, whether that which is put before him or her is God’s truth or is not.  Each of us must make sure that we are not deluded and taken in by any false teaching, therefore, we must:

“Prove all things;  hold fast that which is good.”

 (I Thes. 5:21)

The principle of this teaching in I Thessalonians 5:21 is, "Prove all things” by the Word of God – meaning, to prove: ALL ministers, ALL teaching, ALL preaching, ALL doctrines, ALL sermons, ALL writings, ALL opinions, ALL practices, ALL including mine, proving ALL by the Word of God, -- measuring ALL by the Word of God, -- comparing ALL by the Word of God -- weighing ALL by the Word of God and examining ALL by the Word of God, for that which does always abide according to the Word of God, receive, hold, believe and obey. That which cannot abide the Word of God, reject, refuse, repudiate, and cast it out.

Again, evaluate all that is put before you whether it is truth!  And, if the Word of God is truth; if Jesus Christ is truth; if the Holy Spirit is the Spirit of truth and leads us into all truth; and if it is truth that sets us free, we should willingly, knowing His truth, abide in His Word. “…whoso keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: hereby know we that we are in him.” (I John 2:5)

Each of us must make the Word of God our daily companion, putting it into our hearts, and then, no matter what false doctrine comes before us, try the spirits, for it shall be revealed to us by His guiding Spirit.  Beloved, believe not every spirit, but try the spirits whether they are of God: because many false prophets are gone out into the world.” (I John 4:1)

Let us prove these things: “All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.” (2 Timothy 3:16).  When looking at Scripture, we are able to prove and test all things, even that which is of “another” gospel.  Let us compare these things to the truth in the Word of God, and may we all grow in discernment by His Spirit, fully avoiding the deadly dangers of a “false” gospel!

In religions and cults of men, they refer to their building as a church, temple, synagogue, hall, or whatever, and say it is of God.  People will always categorize with the question: “What church do you go to?”  “What temple are you a member of?”  These people are all referring to a denomination or a building, and it’s so phony, but they don’t even know it.  Religion also says: “Whatever you do, do it through your local church”, or “be sure and check with your pastor”.  Is this what you do?  Do you know how many people today say they worship Christ on Sunday (some say Saturday), but do not daily take up their cross and follow Him?   Millions!!!

Did you know that these same millions of people believe that it’s essential to be, or become, a member of a certain denominational church?  But, it is NOT essential!  Yet, they faithfully attend their church buildings regularly, even though they believe in a false gospel and do not have the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour.  These people are not saved!  What is essential is that each and every one of us be “in Jesus Christ”, be “born again”.  Do you know what that means?

According to the Lord Jesus Christ being “born again” is required in order to be saved – (John 3:3).  Salvation occurs when a person transfers his trust in “self” to the Lord Jesus Christ for their salvation.  At that point in time, when a person fully trusts the Lord Jesus Christ ALONE for their salvation, and comes to Him by faith and repentance of sin, that person is “born again”.  Then, we will have a changed person with a changed heart, one who begins living Jesus Christ every day of his or her life, making Him Head over their entire life, and if he or she is in Jesus Christ, these are already a member of His “church”, the “body of Christ”.

How often do you tell others that you are a Christian?  That’s easy to do, isn’t it?  Nearly everyone nowadays are claiming to be “Christian”, and it doesn’t seem to matter what religion they belong to, what bible they read from, what traditions they believe or what man rules over them with rules they must adhere to, they still claim to be “Christian”, don’t they?  Well, let me ask you, how often do you speak the name of Jesus Christ, telling others of Him, rather than speaking of yourself as a “Christian”?  His name is sometimes more difficult to speak for some, even in men’s churches where they would rather refer to all in their pews as “Christian” before they would speak His blessed name, Jesus Christ, to all in that church building.  Let us learn what the Word says:

The Word tells us what “church” means: “For as the body is one and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ.  For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit.  For the body is not one member, but many.” (I Cor. 12:12-14)  Here we see that the “church” is the “body of Christ”, having many members (not meaning denominations or religion), being all believers in the Lord Jesus Christ.  The “church” of the living God is made up of ALL believers who are redeemed by the blood of Jesus Christ, having placed their trust in Him and are born again of the Spirit.  “Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you? (I Cor. 3:16).  Also, “What?  know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?  (I Cor. 6:19).

If you would read Romans 16:3-5:  “Greet Priscilla and Aquila my helpers in Christ Jesus: (4) have for my life laid down their own necks: unto whom not only I give thanks, but also all the churches of the Gentiles. (5) Likewise, greet the church that is in their house”.  Read verse 5 again – and you can see that Paul refers to the “church” that is in their house, not a church building or a particular denomination, but a “body of believers” in “their house”.

If Jesus Christ is in you, the “church” is YOU!  When each person is saved, he/she becomes the “house” of God, the “temple” of the Holy Ghost (I Cor. 6:19).  We become the “church” as we are part of the body of Christ because He lives in the heart of every man, woman and child who has the Spirit of God, that Spirit which is Christ in them, meaning that this is the essence of His “church”.  “And hath put all things under his feet, and gave him to be the head over all things to the church, Which is his body, the fullness of him that filleth all in all” (Ephes. 1:22-23).

No man need teach us, as the Lord Jesus Christ lives in us and He, through the Holy Spirit, speaks to us through His Word. We need to quit looking to others to lead us. No man has the final authority over us, for our authority comes from Jesus Christ, the Word, by His Spirit. “But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him” (I John 2:27).

 Many Religions/Denominations…..

When Jesus began adding to the “body of Christ”, He began with the 12 Apostles, each very different than the other.  Did Jesus tell each one of them to start a different denomination?  No, He did not!  But, this is what we have today, many religions and many denominations, each one claiming that theirs is the ONLY right denomination or religion.  Yet, not one of man’s religions or denominations was founded by Jesus Christ; they were all founded by men.  Religions of men can and does refer to certain sets of beliefs, with each one having their own set, and all are different.  Each religion believes in a god or gods, and they too are all different.

Most religions teach people to be good and that God will reward them for being good – here we see religion transforming the “outside” of man.  How foolish!  Religion teaches the law by those “good works”, adding their own rules, rituals and ceremonies, traditions of men, their own “good works” of righteousness to the finished work of Jesus Christ “…who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree” (I Peter 2:24).

Where is your faith?  Is it in Religion, your denomination or some man who is the head of it?  Are you being led astray?  What does the Word say:

The Word tells us there is One Shepherd and One Door, Jesus Christ… John 10:1-3: “Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.  But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.  To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.  And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.  And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

There are NOT many doors, NOT many religions, and NOT many denominations to heaven; there is only ONE shepherd of the sheep, Jesus Christ!  If you are a member of a religion, denomination or cult, you are being “…tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive.” (Ephes. 4:14), so, what must you do?  Come out from her!

“For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit”  (I Cor. 12:13).  No denomination or religion was even named here.

Jesus and His Apostles warned of men preaching “another Jesus” and “another gospel” – even as Paul warned:  “But I fear, lest by any means, as the serpent beguiled Eve through his subtilty, so your minds should be corrupted from the simplicity that is in Christ.  For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.” (2 Cor. 11:3-4).  We have been warned that we are to abide in the gospel and doctrine of Christ (Gal. 1:6-10; 2 John 9-10).

TRUE RELIGION is when “Love worketh no ill to his neighbour: therefore love is the fulfilling of the law” (Romans 13:10).  “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world”. (James 1:27)  Jesus said:  “I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me” (John 14:6), as He alone revealed the Father (Matt. 11:27; Luke 10:22).

Elected or Self Appointed Head of a Religion/Denomination/Cult…..

The greatest impediment to the teachings of Jesus Christ to this world is the religious heads of denominations. These religious authorities are the ones controlling denominations.  These many men, some women, want people to believe that they are appointed by, told by, and ordained by God, to be the head of a religion, denomination or even the cults, who should be obeyed in all things (or in most things) governing their members. This concept (certainly, not one that is new) of these people believing that they are the earthly authority and spokesperson for God is a deterrent to the teaching of the truth of the Word.  I had one woman, who said she was a pastor, call me and tell me that God Himself spoke to her, telling her that He appointed her head over His church.  Oh, yes, there are some of those out there!

The leaders of these various denominations and religions do not want to teach the fullness of the Gospel because it would take away their authority to rule, supervise, and to collect the tithes and monies from the membership whom they want to govern.  These leaders want full control of their members, even by checking their attendance and other works they perform, such as choir director, music planner, Sunday school teacher, bus ministry person, and etc., etc., plus many more titles and jobs in today’s mega churches which we will learn about in this article.

With religious leaders in full control, the members have a yoke around their necks.  These elected leaders, preachers, priests, or appointed people, whether by a form of religious government, or of themselves, do not understand that they have no power whatsoever, because the true “church” is not dependent upon any minister, pastor, woman, or priest upon this earth.  If you are a born again Christian and are doubtful about the veracity of one of these teachers, then you are obligated NOT to believe what they are teaching and NOT to trust their leadership.

One is not to believe the things in religion simply because they are said by Popes, Cardinals, Bishops, Priests, Presbyters, Deacons, or by Churches, Councils, or Synods, or by any religion of man. Don’t even think that “such things must be true, because these men say so." We are to prove all things by the Word of God, no matter who says it, and that includes myself.  Each and every one of us must be bereans!  Knowing always what the Word tells us:

The Word tells us: the Head of the church is Christ!

And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence” (Col. 1:18)

Jesus tells us: Beware of false prophets, which come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ravening wolves.”  (Matt. 7:15).  How then is it possible that all men shall know these false prophets, except they exercise their judgment as to what their fruits are?  We are to search “the scriptures daily, as Paul told those in Berea “whether those things were so," and "therefore," the Word says "many of them believed." (Acts 17:11, 12.).  They searched the Scriptures daily in order to judge if these things were so.  We also should do the same to see if the truth of the Word is being taught.

Did you not know that all power given the Christian in the body of Christ comes from the Teacher of the Word (Holy Spirit) to the “church”, Jesus said: “But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me… unto the uttermost part of the earth.” (Acts 1:8).  This is for ALL in the body of Christ.  ALL shall be witnesses of Him!  We are all stewards of the Word!  There is no human mediator, i.e. pope, bishop, priest, father, pastor, deacon, minister, reverend, rabbi, guru, or any other religious man, between you and the Father… “For there is one God, and one mediator between God and men, the man Christ Jesus; Who gave himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time.”  (I Timothy 2:5-6). “Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.” (Galatians 5:1).

The Prosperity Gospel/Word of Faith Gospel

Today’s churches are teaching the “PROSPERITY GOSPEL” AND “SELF GOSPEL”!  The advocates of the prosperity gospel claim that it is God’s will for every believer to be prosperous, even including: self-achievement, self happiness, self success, self goods increase, and earthly riches for self and endless prosperity with perfect health for self.  Any religion that teaches the “Prosperity Gospel” focuses on “self” (me, myself and I), should be called the “Self” faith gospel!  All lies of the devil and taught in most religions of men.

Christianity is NOT a TV miracle show with hosts, after the likes of  Katherine Khulman (1922-1976), who seemed to float across the stage in flowing dresses, one of the 1st on TV to use “slain in the Spirit”, she was also Benny Hinn’s mentor.  Then we see the other tongue talker, Kenneth Copeland, in the Word of Faith, “Positive Confession” movement, otherwise known as the “name it and claim it gospel” or the “health and wealth gospel”, who is a protégé of Kenneth Hagin (1926-2003).  We also see Fred Price, Robert Tilton, Jimmy Swaggart, Oral Roberts and his son, along with Pat Robertson, Gloria Copeland, Clarence McClendon, Joyce Meyer, Marilyn Hickey, Paula White, Paul and Jan Crouch, Joel Osteen, plus many more, all teaching self healing and the prosperity gospel which is the message of the Trinity Broadcasting Network (TBN).  These people teach the false “positive confession” of “name it and claim it” …give, give, give your money and believe for an increase in return…speak a new car, and believe that you are driving it and you will have it…name the big house you want to live in and look to be in it within 6 months.  These charismatic teachers, many who babble in tongues, are standing before you promising innumerable miracles and blessings from God, pleading with you to pledge what you don’t have, and telling you that God will provide it a hundredfold, and the larger the gift you pledge, the better the miracle you will receive.  Some sound good, but they teach lies and will put you into bondage!  Jesus Christ didn’t come to put you into bondage.

These are the things these preachers, who came from various religious backgrounds, base your (those who are part of their ministry) Christianity on.  And, they’ll tell you to your face, that if you don’t have it, it’s because you don’t have enough faith!  Imagine that!  It’s hard to believe these things, isn’t it?  Well, maybe not so hard to believe as it is disgusting to think that these very things are being taught by people who call themselves ministers of God.  People, beware of them!

The sad truth is that the gospel proclaimed by those in the Word of Faith movement is not the gospel of the New Testament, but rather a blend of mysticism and gnosticism, and is a dangerous system preaching a false gospel that has come out of the charismatic movement.  People, the Word of Faith teachings are heretical and their scandalous methods have been exposed over the past 20 years (probably longer) and their prophecies have gone awry, never having been fulfilled.  Yet, we can still see all of the above people mentioned, and their ministries continuing on in their false teachings every day all over the world, as well as the deception of the Brownsville and Toronto (so called) blessing.  All of the above is nothing but self adulation taking over. And if you are into it, any part of it, I pray that the Lord will open your heart and the hearts of those who are truly seeking Him, but are caught up in this deception.  Let’s see what the Word tells us on these things:

The Word tells us: not to lay up treasures upon this earth

Jesus said:  “Lay not up for ;yourselves treasures upon earth, where moth and rust doth corrupt, and where thieves break through and steal:  But lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust doth corrupt, and where thieves do not break through nor steal.  For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. (Matthew 6:19-21)  These are clear and simple words from Jesus about having our priorities on spiritual things, not material things.

“Preach the word; be instant in season, out of season; reprove, rebuke, exhort with all longsuffering and doctrine.  For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” --2 Timothy 4:2-4

There will always be those who will seek out teachers who will tell them exactly what they want to hear. Just imagine, rather than listening to truth, these people will choose to have their ears tickled by some fast and smooth talker, otherwise known as a deceiving false teacher.  I have known many who have walked away from Jesus Christ the Word to follow false teachers who could deceive them into believing anything.  “For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears  from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (2 Tim. 4:3-4)

Teaching the prosperity gospel is certainly NOT sound doctrine, but rather a broadly based mixture of motivational teaching with some of man’s “psychology”, peppered with some of the charismatic and Pentecostal teachings which all adds up to “positive thinking” and “new age”.

Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself. (I Timothy 6:5).

The Mega Churches of men

Have you seen them?  We’ll see what these “MEGA” churches, built up by men (not the Holy Spirit), are all about, what’s inside of them, what’s being taught by their “mega” pastors and who they are.

People, many of you believe that Christianity is all about the things which follow here, but I say to you, Christianity is NOT a social club, it’s NOT having a rock band in front of the church building, it’s NOT the dancing or the raised hand swayers in the pews and aisles, and, it’s NOT a circus or a side show.  It is NOT composed of soul groups, so called “christian” rappers or having a worship band (sounding like it’s the back-up of a Broadway production) to bring in a crowd of young ‘uns, it’s certainly NOT the choir (which sounds like a chorus in an extravagant musical), it’s NOT the drama (every bit as theatrical as the choir), and it is NOT the multimedia presentation (like a state-of-the art 1st class movie) that delivers a visual aspect of any sermon, performance on stage, or song from the choir, for no matter where one sits in the building, one is highly entertained.  Do you call this Christianity?  Are you part of this mockery, part of the enemy’s work?  I say to you that these men are using marketing methods that have caused them to water down, actually drown, the good news of the gospel message.

How does today’s worldly system operate?  Bigger is better!  That’s how!  This same system, the very one that “mega” churches operate on, would rather measure the roster by its size, than to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ.  Yes, they do throw in parts of Scripture, but change the meaning totally.  The “mega” church is a business of marketing strategies and management techniques.  It’s all out there for you to read in any book store, or if you have ever attended one of these churches then you know what I mean.

Many of the denominational churches are now hosting a 40 day studying event by going through a book called “The Purpose Driven Life” by Rick Warren, a Southern Baptist pastor of the Saddleback church in Orange County, California.  Mr. Warren has used Scripture verses out of context (so you had better know what the Word really says) and puts it into his own context, quoting scriptures from many different bibles in order for you, the reader, to be able to see God’s truth in new, fresh ways.  That’s garbage!  There are no “new, fresh ways” in seeing the truth of the Word, there is only ONE way in seeing it, and that is by the Holy Spirit.  Each of us must be a berean!

Mr. Warren quotes from another false bible on his Purpose Driven Life Resource page stating: These resources are designed to support you on your journey to live a purpose-driven life, quoting from The Messenger bible… “It’s in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for, long before we heard of Christ…he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.” Now, I will read it to you from the King James Authorized Version – Ephes. 1:11: “In whom also we have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him who worketh all things after the counsel of his own will.”  Can you see that this man has used The Messenger which has totally changed the truth in the Word of God?  Read it again people…you are being deceived.  Let’s see what Rick Warren’s 40 Days of Purpose is built on:  He claims it’s built on five transforming principles, the following are his principles:

1.   Unified Prayer – an indispensable ingredient, months of prayer preparation, churches schedule days of fasting to prepare their hearts for awakening.
People, there cannot be “unified prayer” for months, or the churches getting involved in scheduling days of fasting in order to prepare a persons heart for awakening.  The awakening is in the fact that Jesus Christ has already done it all, shed His blood, died and was resurrected for ALL of mankind.  If you have not been awakened by that fact or have not accepted Jesus Christ as Saviour, living Him daily, then you will never be awakened by a man’s book, unified prayer or any church scheduling days of fasting for you.

2.       Concentrated Focus – during 40 Days of Purpose, the entire church focuses on the same thing together: God’s purposes for their lives.

People, God’s purpose for your lives can NOT be explained in a man’s book counting 40 Days of Purpose, or any other man’s book, for man cannot outdo God!  Besides, not even 1000 people could have concentrated focus on the same thing, as all wouldn’t come up with the same answer!  This is meditation and pure sorcery!  Read the scripture where Simon the Sorcerer had deceived the people with sorceries, Acts 8:9-11.   Not ALL are spiritually minded!  Not ALL are in Jesus Christ!

3.     Multiple Reinforcements – a designed journey around 4 vital habits that everyone needs to grow spiritually; the habit of weekly worship attendance, daily quiet time, weekly group Bible study, weekly Scripture memory verse.  They believe these things will keep people growing long after 40 Days of Purpose if finished.

Why would any true Christian need to have a “designed journey” by a man, who decided that they needed to grow spiritually in 4 habits, i.e., weekly worship attendance, a daily quiet time, weekly group Bible study and weekly memorizing a scripture verse?  This is a hard one to believe that people would even follow this man in this area…IT’S NOT SCRIPTURAL, NONE OF IT!

4.      Behavioral Teaching – the messages are designed to cause people to become doers of the Word, and not hearers only.  Each sermon has either a homework assignment, or even after the service, like ministry fair or missions fair, where members can take action on what they’ve learned.

Again, if you are a Christian, why would you need behavioral teaching from a man who gives you a homework assignment or has you remain after the service to take action on what you have learned?  Do you see where the fallacy is here?  In these “mega” churches, men are constantly exposed to appeals based on collective opinion, as seen above.  These people believe certain things because there is a consensus among leaders who are the overseers of these programs.  These people also have a yoke around their neck! And, these kinds of people build “mega” churches of men.

5.        Exponential Thinking – this kind of thinking stretches your faith.  It is thinking so big that you are forced to completely depend on God because you know you cannot reach your goal on your own power.  This “faith factor” is what takes the 40 Days of Purpose out of the realm of “What we’ve always done” or “What we think we could do” and instead expects God to do something that’s never been done before in your church.

Exponential Thinking???  Stretches your faith???  See what I mean…everything they say is “think big”, everything they do is “build big”… again, they believe bigger is better!  Here, we see a “big” difference in their so called “faith factor” which takes this 5th principle of Rick Warren, totally changes the Word of God, and puts their 40 Days of Purpose ahead of the Word because they say that through their “40 Days of Purpose” one “expects God to do something that’s never been done before in your church”???  This is hogwash!  It has no purpose and it’s certainly not of faith, therefore, God isn’t going to do anything in your big church!  People, you are trusting a man to do your thinking for you!  There is only ONE FAITH (Ephes. 4:5), but some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils (I Tim. 4:1).

These things are all of Satan and I will explain to you why they are of Satan according to what the Word says.

The Word says:  “And the Lord added to the church daily such as should be saved.” (Acts 2:47)

The “church” is NOT a building (big, small or mega) that has been made with hands, and we cannot go to it because we ARE the “church”, and one day Jesus Christ will “…present it to himself…not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.” (Ephes. 5:27).

Jesus Christ has called those, who are truly “born again” believers, His “Church”.  Our life in Jesus Christ must be as a reflection of Him, such as a light -- “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven” (Matt. 5:16), His “church” is salt – “Ye are the salt of the earth: but if the salt have lost his savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is thenceforth good for nothing, but to be cast out, and to be trodden under foot of men.” (Matt. 5:13) also read Mark 9:50.  So many forget this:  “But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another…” I John 1:7.

Do people see Jesus Christ, the light, in YOU – “He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.” (Matt. 10:40) do they see the relationship you have with Jesus Christ?  (I often tell people, as you probably know, if you knew Jesus, you would know me).  Or, maybe you are quoting to them what your mega pastor, mega minister, mega preacher, mega elder, mega priest, mega bishop, or mega pope says and teaches?  “But he that is greatest among you shall be your servant.  But woe unto you scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye shut up the kingdom of heaven against men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to go in.” (Matthew 23:11, 13)  Each one of us are to be imitators of Jesus Christ Who made Himself of no reputation. “For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish:  To the one we are the savour of death unto death; and to the other the savour of life unto life.  And who is sufficient for these things?  For we are not as many, which corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the sight of God speak we in Christ.” (22 Corinthians 2:15-17).  There is a big difference here!  Even if you tell me that you know Jesus, but continue to quote from those who are NOT teaching the truth, then how can I possibly know you?  Let us all speak in and of Jesus Christ!

People, deception is occurring today, but are you able to see it?   Now, Jesus said: “Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:” [meaning: hell – emphasis mine] “Because strait is the gate and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it [meaning: heaven – emphasis mine]  (Matthew  7:13-14).  These men would have you sign pledges in their churches --  “Again, ye have heard that it hath been said by them of old time, Thou shalt not forswear thyself, but shalt perform unto the Lord thine oaths: But I say unto you, Swear not at all; neither by heaven; for it is God’s throne: Not by the earth; for it is his footstool: neither by Jerusalem; for it is the city of the great King.  Neither shalt thou swear by thy head, because thou canst not make one hair white or black.  But let your communication be, Yea, yea; Nay, nay: for whatsoever is more than these cometh of evil.” (Matthew 5:33-37).

Those who take the courses of men must learn that it will NOT change them, for that is NOT how it’s done.  “Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time:  Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.  Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour” (I Peter 5:6-8).  Take heed that no man deceive you.  For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many.”  (Matt. 24:4-5)  “And many false prophets shall rise, and shall deceive many. (Matt. 24:11)  “For there shall arise false Christs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very elect” (Matt. 24:24).

“For there must be also heresies among you, that they which are approved may be made manifest among you. (I Corinthians 11:19).

“And if any man obey not our word by this epistle, note that man, and have no company with him, that he may be ashamed. (2 Thessalonians 3:14).

“If any man teach otherwise, and consent not to wholesome words, even the words of our Lord Jesus Christ, and to the doctrine which is according to godliness; He is proud, knowing nothing, but doting about questions and strifes of words, whereof cometh envy, strive, railings, evil surmisings, Perverse disputings of men of corrupt minds, and destitute of the truth, supposing that gain is godliness: from such withdraw thyself” (I Timothy 6:3-5).

“Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15).

“But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. (2 Timothy 3:13).

“For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears; And they shall turn away their ears form the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.” (2 Timothy 4:3-4).

“As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. (Revelation 3:19).

The power of the “church” is not in its mega buildings (surpassing all others of its kind), or in the latest mega-church (super star headliner) preacher, or not even in its large institutions of men’s Bible colleges.  The power of the true “church” is in the body of Christ, each individual following Jesus Christ and His Word.  Remember, a church does not save anyone, and it never has. Salvation is ONLY found in the Lord Jesus Christ.

“Fear not, little flock; for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom”
Luke 11:32

And, it doesn’t say “BIG” or “MEGA” flock…the Word says “little flock”.  Remember, NO church can save anyone, and it never has.  Salvation is ONLY found in the Lord Jesus Christ.
