God's Sword of Truth - The Word

"Another" Gospel

~ Part 1 ~

By The Holy Spirit's Disciple, Raymond Laginess

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.  As we said before, so say I now again, If any man preach any other gospel unto you than that ye have received, let him be accursed.”   (Gal.1:8-9)

Paul is warning the Corinthian and Galatian churches of “another” Gospel, another message that is meant to sound like the true Gospel, seem like the true Gospel, but is NOT the true Gospel!

Take heed ALL you religious systems of men, preaching and teaching a man-made gospel!

Take heed ALL you people who follow their false gospel!

The consequences are grave … “LET HIM BE ACCURSED”!

When a teacher, preacher, pastor, minister, denomination or religion, brings a distorted message of the Gospel, or adds doctrines contrary to the Word and passes it on to you, the people, and you accept it … “LET HIM BE ACCURSED”!

“For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.”  (2 Cor. 11:4)

“If any man love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be Anathema Maranatha.” (Read I Cor. 16:22)

Those of another gospel are they who come in the name of Christianity, with the majority claiming to be Christian, yet are easily divided, contradicting one another and disagreeing with each other in just about everything under the sun: their name, organization, doctrine,  form of worship, what day to worship on, and even the plan of salvation. Such as this clearly constitutes division, certainly NOT unity.  Yet, those of another gospel claim to be Christian with most claiming to follow Jesus Christ, but not all.  These are the daily and week-end “church goers, temple attendees and mosque kneelers” who are attempting to reach heaven by their own self-righteous methods.

Today, we see millions and millions of people in the many religions of the world, some known as denominations: Catholic, Baptist, Protestant, Pentecostal, even the Non-Denominational, and several hundred more, attending the “church” of their choice, who continually use the word “church” in referring to a building or a denomination, when they have little idea of what the true church (body of Christ) is, but, rather believe it to be a common place of worship for them. We also have Judaism which does not characterize itself as a religion, but more of a culture with its own history.  To me, Judaism is earthly, the same as all other religions.

On the other hand, we have the cults: Mormonism (LDS), Jehovah’s Witnesses, Christian Science, New Age, and others.  We also have the Eastern religions of Islam, Hinduism, and Buddhism, etc.  All of these, religions, denominations, sects and cults, attend their buildings, halls, temples, mosques, meeting houses and communities, making them the gathering places of choice, whether monthly, weekly, daily, or 3 to 5 times a day,  having little idea of who or what they are worshiping or praying to, but, rather believing what they are doing is of human necessity.

Even from your couch you will see that television now has a variety of religious programs to choose from.  Nearly every street corner boasts of a church building of some sort, at least in my town it does, viewing a variety of steeples as you drive down the main street, all different denominations of religion, and all teaching doctrines of men.  People today are obsessed with “denominational religion”, which is essentially the practice of rallying around men, perhaps it’s around the one who founded their religion/denomination, or even the one who stands at the head of their religion today.  However, denominational religion does not belong to Jesus Christ, but is the result of many human creeds and the ambitions of their selfish false founders.  Read all about them along with their ceremonialism, traditionalism and human precepts, in Mark 7:6-13:

“But there were False Prophets also among the people, even as there shall be False Teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the LORD that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.”
2 Peter 2:1

It’s easy to see that a little bit of one thing, though mixed with a much larger amount of something else, changes the nature of the whole.  This is one of the leavens that Jesus warns us about: “the leaven of the Sadducees and Pharisees” in Matthew 16:11, 12, when Jesus said:  “How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?  Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees”.  For instance, a little bit of error (just 1% of a false teaching or doctrine), mixed in with true teaching and doctrine (99% looks good) makes one a false teacher. Also read: Matthew 16:6, Mark 8:15, Luke 12:1, Luke 16:14, 1Timothy 4:1. Does leaven exist in these religious systems and denominations today?  YES!!!  OF COURSE!!!

False teachers, in the religions of men and their denomination, continue today to put their traditions ahead of the Word of God (Mark 7:3-13); they emphasize the outward works rather than the inward things (Matthew 23:23, 25; 15:11), this is legalism: “the letter killeth, but the spirit giveth life” (2 Corinthians 3:6).  All these things limit the grace of God and put a yoke around the neck, placing burdens upon their hearers that they themselves did not bear (Matthew 23:4).

Within each religion or belief, there is most likely someone at the helm, one who is running the show, who is either chosen or voted on by their particular denomination, or one that, is self-made. Some of these come under the title of: “holy man”, “father”, “reverend” “prophet”, “pope”, “guru”, or some type of  high “mucky muck”.

But, it may interest you to know that Christ’s plan for the government of His body (born again believers) has never changed!    Never once in the entire New Testament will you read of the Galatian church, Corinthian church, or Ephesian church ever choosing their  leaders.  So, all the traditions and customs of men must be put away. Yet, we can see that the religious and denominational leaders today can be easily compared to the Pharisees and Sadducees during the days of Jesus Christ’s ministry.

If all these church leaders, preachers, ministers, teachers and etc., are inconsistent, by just 1%, they are generating uncertainly in the minds of their sheep by debasing the authority of the Bible as God’s inspired Word, and these will be held responsible for misleading the world.  You have heard that antichrist shall come, BUT even now there are many antichrists – in Matt. 24:4-5 Jesus said: “…Take heed that no man deceive you.  For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many”.  Even unto accepting the antichrist as Jesus Christ.

People, have you ever asked yourself why the man standing at the head of your religion or denomination must be papered with bible college degrees and certificates, and also must be called by his title?  My friends, no man needs a bible college degree to teach you, as only the Holy Spirit can teach you, and it is the Holy Spirit who picks and chooses men to teach (see Luke 12:12; John 14:26 and especially I Corinthians 2:13).  Heads of Bible colleges and heads in religious denominations, even their boards cannot choose who will lead the flock, it must be done according to His Word, and it says:  “Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.”-- Acts 20:28  All teaching, even mine, must be discerned by the Holy Spirit as written, see I Corinthians 2:10-11 and verse 14 says it all: “But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.”  Always remember, your pastor, elder, teacher, pope, priest, or holy man is NOT your saviour.  Jesus Christ is Saviour to all, and His Spirit guides us in ALL learning – you have His Word on it!

Now, there are many pastors, preachers, teachers, and elders out there who appear religious and do good works, they may act like Christians, even talk like Christians; but they are NOT Christians because they have not been “born again” by believing in Jesus Christ.  These men are hypocrites, as they do not believe the things they proclaim.  “…for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.  Therefore it is no great thing if his ministers also be transformed as the ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.” (2 Cor. 11:14-15).  How many times should a person be warned about these false teachers so that they will be on guard against them -- once, twice or 100 times?

There is ONE way to prevent ourselves from being led astray by false teachers, and that is by growing in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. How can one do that?  “Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.” (2 Tim. 2:15)  Feed on the Word of God and allow the Holy Spirit to guide and teach in all His truth of the Word. We must compare what men say with what the bible says.  See Article: Man's Teachings vs Christ's Teachings.   Take even the things I say, and compare it with the Word of God.  Trust in no man!

“Prove all things; hold fast that which is good.” -- I Thessalonians 5:21

Now, in having examined some of these false teachers, I recognize that men and women are very apt to be creatures of their times, and habits, easily influenced by their parent’s religious background, ways in which you had been raised in their system, and are still adhering to today.  Even young couples getting married, where one, who really doesn’t have a specific religious background, will more than likely follow their spouses religious choice.  Therefore, I believe, according to the Word of God, that none of these systems represent a clearly scriptural position.  And, if you are a member of one of the religions or cults I mentioned in the beginning, or any other religion, denomination, or cult not mentioned, you should know without a doubt, that each has its own set of rules to follow, doctrines to believe, laws to keep, rituals and ceremonies…their own works of righteousness.  Yet, each one of these religions will claim that what they teach you is truth, and that it is necessary for you to accept and believe what they teach.  Many also teach that if you do not believe “their” teachings you cannot receive “their” salvation.  Their teachings and their salvations are false!  ALL FALSE! “Whosoever…abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God.” (2 John vs. 9)

In the following, you can see some of the false teachings of different religions:

•    denying the deity of Christ by teaching “another Jesus”
•    including in their teachings a “Works” salvation
•    teaching that their “religion” is the only “true religion”
•    requiring a regimented and certain amount of financial giving of “tithes”
•    teaching that one will lose ones salvation if they leave that religion
•    using their own authority beyond the Bible

Are you a member of one of these false churches that teach any one of the above?  Do you have a veil over your face, blinded by tradition and your own religious concepts?   Is your faith in religion, or in the Gospel of Jesus Christ?  You see, religion has added their own rules, rituals and ceremonies, even unto their own works of righteousness to the already finished work of Jesus on the tree.

My friends, if these religions are presenting any of these false teachings and doctrines, then multitudes of people are being led astray, and you could be one of them.  So then, what is your responsibility?  Remember, God has given you a “free will” to either accept or reject what He has done for you (I Corinthians 15:3,4).  Be aware!  Your religion will NOT get you to heaven!  See Article: Denominational Religion

Read the following Scripture references which will prove that Jesus Christ is the ONLY WAY by which a person can make it to heaven: John 14:6, 7:9, 10:14 and Ephesians 4:5.

We’ll now look to where we can find the truth, the ONLY answer which is found in the Word of God, the James Authorized Version.  This Bible was written by the Holy Spirit who used learned men as the “pens” in writing the Word.  This is the same Holy Spirit today who teaches and guides us in the truth of His Word.

The only time there is confusion, is when people begin reading from the hundreds of versions of Bibles out there today.  This kind of confusion can only come from the author of confusion, Satan!  I Cor. 14:33 – “For God is not the author of confusion…”. See article: Counterfeit Christian

The “Word of God”, or often simply “the Word”, means the Bible. This is the standard terminology among almost all who believe in the inspiration and authority of the Bible.  Unlike the Koran (or Qur’an), and other scriptures of all the world’s religions, the Bible alone states that man’s salvation is a free gift of God’s grace to all who would believe on Jesus Christ: “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.” (Ephes. 2:8-9) “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).  Who shall have everlasting life?  All those who believe the truth of the Word, and the Word is Jesus Christ: “…Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved…” (Acts 16:31)

In Romans 8:5 – “For they that are after the flesh do mind the things of the flesh; but they that are after the Spirit the things of the Spirit…to be spiritually minded is life and peace”. Learned men cannot possibly attempt to provide answers for the meaning and purpose of life and peace.  But, take the spiritual man, he is able to understand what the Bible says.  Remember, the Bible is a spiritual book and is only understandable to those who are led by God’s Spirit.  It is not possible that the natural man, learned or not, will understand the Bible, not even in simplifying it by paraphrasing will do any good, because the Bible is a spiritual book.

There is only ONE Word, the New Testament, which was written in Greek by the Apostles, under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit.  The Greek text was definitely approved by the Apostles and could never have been used without their approval.  Now, if you can read the Greek, then of course, it’s the best translation, if not, we have an excellent translation in the English language, called the King James Authorized Version (See article: The Bible – King James 1611).  The King James Authorized Version is the best English translation in the world today, the one that contains His plan for all of us.

Every man’s faith and belief must have a solid foundation which is firm and strong to be built upon.  That solid foundation is the Word, Jesus Christ, which is His way, His path, and His plan.  Now, if anyone else tries to alter His plan by changing it, or building upon it in any other way, they will fail.  Paul explained it quite well:  “…ye are God’s building.  According to the grace of God which is given unto me, as a wise masterbuilder, I have laid the foundation, and another buildeth thereon.  But let every man take heed how he buildeth thereupon.  For other foundation can no man lay than that is laid, which is Jesus Christ.”  (I Cor. 3:9-11).  People, there is no other way!

Many religions claim that the “book” they read from is the Word of God, and is used times without number by each religion in their own books, written commentaries, sermons, catechisms, creeds, written and passed on traditions, and in every day speech. In nearly each religion, they will tell their members that these things have been written down just for them, so that they will have a better understanding of: “how to live your life”, or “how you can get to heaven”.  These members will follow that which has been handed down to them:  religious/denominational guides and standards of authority; creeds, creed books, catechisms, the church laws and all its rules and traditions. Some examples of Denominational/Religious Books, Cult Books, and Eastern religion Books are as follows:

Cathechism of the Catholic Church used by the Roman Catholic religion
The Book of Common Prayer used by the Anglican and Episcopal religions
The Book of Concord used by the Lutheran religion
The Book of Common Worship used by Presbyterian, Anglican and Church of England religions
The Book of Mormon used by the Mormons (LDS)
The Doctrine and Covenants (collection of Declarations) used by the Mormons (LDS)
Articles of Religion, Book of Discipline used by the United Methodist religions
Dianetics: The Modern Science of Metal Health used by the Church of Scientology
Science and Health the Key to the Scriptures used by the Church of Christian Science
The Torah (Tanach) used by Judaism
The Koran (Qur'an) used by Islamics
The Book of Covenant and the Most Holy Book used by the Baha'i's
The Tipitaka (Tripitaka) and Diamond Sutr used by the Buddhist’s
The Vedas and The Epics used by Hinduism

People, have you forgotten something … that it only takes a little bit of leaven that will leaven the whole loaf?  Oh, yes, the apostasy that is in religion requires a certain diligence on your part to discern it, especially when Satan comes in as an “angel of light”, and brings with him “another gospel” to all of you in your denominations, as you receive “another spirit”, for Satan portrays himself as a “righteous” creature, not with 100% heresy, but only 1% heresy, and again, we read:  – “For if he that cometh preacheth another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if ye receive another spirit, which ye have not received, or another gospel, which ye have not accepted, ye might well bear with him.” (2 Cor. 11:4)
